C350e owners club

That's interesting, do you have a link?
I wonder if this is an individual setting parameter or a "UK spec" setting ... perhaps there's an OBD scanner that will allow this setting to be changed, or something an independent dealer would do.

It was here

...but it seems there might be some reluctance from the dealers to do it? I'm sure I saw another thread where someone posted it was done for them no bother though....

Charge points

So far I've charged at home or put petrol into the tank, but now I'd like to understand the charging networks so I can charge somewhere while having lunch. The problem is that the number of networks, free, pre-pay and so on looks pretty confusing. Can anyone give a quick starter guide, or point to one that already exists?

Here's one: https://www.zap-map.com/charge-points/public-charging-point-networks/

Given that the c350e will only take 5kWh of charge, finding a way of not being fleeced could be tricky. You other need to be charging 15+ times per month to justify the £8 subscription or be willing to pay over £3 for a charge via something like POLAR INSTANT. The same charge at home would cost much less than £1, so it's not great value for money. I suppose the first 6 months of subscription is free on POLAR PLUS, but I'm not sure what the cancellation terms are.

I'd love someone to point out some options I haven't seen...

Polar don't appear to have cancellation restrictions...

What's the space under the boot floor for?

Yet another question. There's a significant empty space under the flimsy floor of the small, hinge-up, storage compartment at the back of my C350e estate, perhaps intended for a second 12V battery in a non-hybrid C class(?) It's very tempting to modify the flimsy floor to make an additional storage box (bad description) in this empty space. Has anyone explored along similar lines?

I haven't found that. In fact it took me a long time to find the lift up floor! :o I will have a look tonight.

You can get a lot of stuff in the compartment at the left hand side of the boot. I've got my "public" charging cable in there in the bag the brick charger came in, and some other gubbins.

I don't really go anywhere with public charging, so I've not looked into it seriously. But here's a tip. Public chargers can get a lot of abuse and I've read of the chargers not disconnecting because the pins are bent. On our cars there is a wire you can access to release the charger plug, if it won't release normally. On the saloon you just take a bit of trim off, but on the estate you need a T30 Torx driver to remove it. So it's worth picking one up to keep in the boot for emergencies. I have keyless entry / start ... is it possible to get the car to automatically lock when I walk away from it (with keys in my pocket!) ... wife's Clio has that functionality and it's great!

I don't think so. You need to dab one of the door handle pads.

Very useful info.

I charge at home, work or when it's free....With the c350e I don't see it as worthwhile paying anything unless it's under £1.

I charge whenever I can though....I have often posted in here about slinging my extension cable out the window of a Premier Inn :D

I am currently in Lancashire where the hotel I and staying at had a previously unlisted Zeronet Charge point (I added to Zap Map) and they reserved the space for me with cones....I have charged 3 times with that and I also drove to Wigan and there was a free CYC point so I used that...It was fiddly to get it going though.

My car was in for a yellow engine light ("software glitch in engine and powertrain software"...) and I asked about getting the external temp display activated. They've quoted a three day visit to get it done!!!

So it's due a premptive plug change so it's getting done next week I hope...

So I've posted before that I'm still waiting for my car after 5 months and did have some good news this morning. The delivery date has changed for 2 weeks earlier. It's not much but I'll take it.
Anyway, this thread is as close as I get to the car and I'm posting because it's been 5 days since any posts to the thread!!
Don't abandon me (us). Keeps your updates, discoveries and pictures coming. I've still got 2 months to fill!! [emoji2]

Wow MK... when did you order?

Is anyone finding that off-peak charging can't be controlled by the web app any more?

There seems to have been an update that I didn't notice straight away. It's changed the peak/off peak controls so it's deleted the previous settings. I've tried resetting them so that the car only charges after 1am, but the web app won't save the setting and the car charges as soon as it's plugged in. The help in the web app is non-existent and I've tried every way I can think of to set off-peak charging, so pretty much the only thing I use it for is broken.

MB customer service replied to me today. My problems were a combination of my numptiness and the pretty horrendous design of the web app. Seems to be working now, although I'll have to unplug the timer switch tomorrow to check it works. Peak/off-peak settings now look like the attached:

Anyone had issues with the electric boot release on the saloon?

Had the motor replaced in Jan and now it needs a new one I guess only half opens as last time.

When using the App to send the data to your vehicle, you need to bear in mind that the GUI (Graphical User Interface) on your computer/ smart phone/ tablet etc shows the modified/entered data immediately. However, it takes a longer time for the data to be transferred to your vehicle's computer via air! Depending on the speed of the data connection to your car (which is determined by many factors, i.e. where it is parked, time of the day or network congestion), there would be a natural time lag between your data entry point and the vehicle's computer.
The practical solution is this:
When you enter data for peak/ off peak time or anything else, do NOT close your App for two minutes. Leave the app running or keep the screen that you are working on, open until the data is sent to the car and verified by the app.
Unfortunately the App doesn't show the process of Handshake and CRC between the two communicating devices and this is where most people have problem.
In one word: be patient!
This is not the best of the Apps but at least it works after a couple of minutes.
I hope this helps.

The voice command system for the sat nav , how do you get it to work ?

My system appears to understand nothing. You ask for york and it says do you want to go to Troon ......

I will book it in under warranty to fix it ...... it surely must be broken as it never works

Have you tried the 'teaching' routine? I was tempted on ours but as the car is shared between the missus and me that wouldn't be a good idea. That said, I've found it seems to work OK on the whole. Not used it all that much though TBH.

Could be worse.... Scots man has Bluetooth battle with voice recognition device - Deadline News ;)
