C350e owners club

Appreciate your comments. Looks like it's back to the dealers for the third time then..... wish I'd had E220d now. Never mind only another 2 years 11 months ......

Just a thought - when the suspension is in Sport mode, it should lower about an inch. When you raise the suspension using the button near the touchpad, it should raise an inch from the Comfort level. It might be worth checking that yours does go up and down correctly and it's not stuck in low.

Good day guys,
I'm looking to buy a 1 year old c350e. What issues should I look for/expect in a vehicle before purchasing?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Only thing that immediately springs to my mind is to make sure it was either built with the new design properly waterproof charge socket/cable assembly or had it fitted during service. Given its a year old, I suspect it won't have been built with it though.

I've not picked up on any other 'e' specific issues so far.

What spec is the car?

I have just ordered a c350e estate sport to replace my c220d amg line company car. Car ordered through your fleet and I'm told it will land with me towards the end of September. Having skimmed through this informative forum I am very much looking forward to getting my new car. I test drove a saloon c350e and it was much smoother and comfier than my current car. I have a slight concern of expected mpg but if I get around 40mpg overall I will be ok with that.
The main query I have to ask the guys fortunate enough to have recently received their c350e's is in regards to the exterior temp display. I know at one time it never came at all and then there was a software update with mixed reviews over its success. Do the new cars now come delivered with the exterior temp display now visible? It would be nice to know if you are setting off in the winter months at 2 or -2 degrees, especially when driving a rear wheel drive car. Joe

Didn't know it was RWD!

Inadvertently tested one of the more esoteric features on Saturday night. I can confirm that the sunroof will indeed close itself if left open and it rains.....although it did leave it slightly open in what I presume is the 'vent' position. Funny thing was, I'd forgotten I left it open and on the way home, couldn't trace where the wind noise was coming from. Didn't spot it until the following day.

My external temp is visible on one screen only. From memory it's the odometer screen.
Thanks for your response. So it isn't on the main display? You have to cycle for it? Oh well better than nothing I guess.

Yes. Mine arrived in May and has the temp but only on one screen. I do wish it was on all screens. I'm British after all and want to know the weather at all times! Haha

Thanks for the reply... I'm looking at a 2016 basic sport model. There are a couple 2017 models available as well.. Will these have the new waterproof design?

Mine was delivered Sept 2015. The socket was changed under a recall and done with the annual service in Sept 2016. I would expect all 2016 cars to have been changed - if it hasn't then you can get it done as a recall. I didn't have any problems with the original.

My car hasn't had the update to include the outside temperature - it's been in twice for it and the upgrade 'failed' due to a problem with the link to Deutschland.

There isn't a main display as such. There are many screens and the car remains on the last one you viewed. I tend to use the energy flow screen. If I need the outside temperature it's one click away as it's on the next screen. It is ridiculous that we have a permanently displayed km/h speed and yet the outside temperature is buried away - if you've even got it!

I wouldn't sweat on it. It will be replaced under warranty if you have any problems. You need to check the car has two keys, a wheel nut key, 3-pin brick charger and a public charging cable. I would prefer a Premium Plus model if you can get one as the satnav/audio is better and I'm a sucker for a sunroof. :D

They started to put the new cable assembly in around the middle of 2016. That's build date of course. Ours was August 2016 build and has it.

ETA I think that if it has the blue front brake calipers and blue details in the headlights it'll have the new cable assembly. As CC says, it'll be covered under warranty anyway. The entire electric drivetrain is covered for 6 years.

I too find it daft that we have to have kmh on display at all times and have to go digging to see the OAT. Other way round would make sense to me.

As well as the significant items CC mentioned, it should also have a first aid kit, couple of hi-vis jackets and a warning triangle. Plus the owners manual & booklets etc.

I'm also with CC on the spec - the PP package gets you quite a lot of nice bits & bobs.

Along with PP, I also really like Distronic with Steering Assist. It's very nice to have in slow traffic. Feet off, hands off.
Little tip for distronic go and stop. When the car stops , you have to flick the gas to go again or, and this is the little tip, give the distronic stalk a tug instead.

Has anyone had an issue with Park Assist. Since the last SW upgrade it always seems to kerb the rear left wheel when Parallel Parking. I had it serviced last month and they could find no issue.

The kerb is of a normal height too.

Mine has a tendency to try and park perpendicular rather than parallel 2 of out 5 times. It's quite embarrassing.
