C350e owners club

Work colleague picked up his C350e at the same time as I got my 300h, told me yesterday that he's been getting the battery malfunction warning and took car to the dealer - apparently hybrid battery pack needs replacing!
He's only just clocked up 1000 miles and not impressed to say the least......

1000 miles? That's good going, I thought it was only meant to go 21 miles? ;-)

Got it, with some of the longer lead times being quoted are they getting close to the facelift model ?

The 2018 interior was shown on here earlier today so the change over must be very soon.

There are leaked photos and video on the Internet and have been for several weeks. I asked my dealer about this as there was a suggestion of an official launch at the end of this year and Q1 production. He said that there had been no official 'noise' yet so it was unlikely that the official announcement would be coming before Christmas. He said that production, therefore, couldn't be until Q2 at the earliest. This would probably meen I'd get my car before the face lift. However, my local dealer can't even tell me when they will know the production date for my car. Therefore, I'll just play it by ear.

These dates being banded about are quite normal. I waited 7 months when I ordered last Oct 16’

So I'm 7 weeks and 2000 miles into c350e estate ownership and the car is booked in for its first trip to the dealership to sort out the problems. I knew it was too good to be true.

Its going in for:

Rev counter sticks at just under 1000 revs when the engine switches off and the car is running on electric power

The nav/audio/info system randomly switches itself off whilst driving. Have to stop the car, remove the key and re start to get it to turn back on

Navigation keeps rebooting itself when driving and cancels the route. Great fun when trying to navigate around London

Rattle coming from behind the roof lining over the rear seats

Reading lights not working

My last mercedes (E class) seemed to spend more time at the dealership than it did on my driveway and I'm beginning to wonder why I put myself through it....

Mines still in the garage. Needs a rubber seal of sorts to prevent an ecu getting fried again and killing the air suspension. I’ve got to wait until at least 3rd December for the part!!
It’s only 6 months old

I ordered mine (Company car, through Arval). I've been told end of May.

Mine is ordered through Arval. Been told mid-April 2018 today. Thinking of cancelling and ordering a BMW 330e to be honest.

Not an option for me as I like/need the estate.

The colder mornings have arrived so I think I'll explore the pre-heat option. I don't have a regular pattern of use so can't set a recurring time. The manual is not the easiest to read so I'd be grateful if someone could describe how to get pre-heating going. How long does it take to heat up once told to do so?

<RANT> in this day of print-on-demand why the *£%^ can't MB print a manual that is specific to the spec of each car, rather than having a standard manual with all possible options? </RANT>

Mobile app:
1. “More” button
2. “Pre-entry climate control” option
3. Press and hold the little fan and heat icon

Mobile website:
1. “Vehicle” section
2. “Pre-entry climate control” icon
3. Either “Activate now” or set a departure time with the “>” button and “Activate departure time” set to Yes

Car:
Press down on the button that has the same icon as the mobile app - fan and heat

There’s an option to switch it on from the charging section of the mobile website as well.

The time required depends on how cold it is and (if you’re plugged in) you need to think about whether you need some time for the battery to recharge afterwards. The climate control uses a lot of power - much more than an 8A feed can cover. 13A or 16A might be better for winter.

It’s a good job you don’t want to set a regular schedule - I don’t think it’s possible. Have fun - the pre entry climate control is great in the winter. Especially if you don’t want to use half your battery in the first few minutes.

I think it’s a shame there is not a Monday-Friday option on the pre-heat. Many people leave at the same time every morning so it would be easier than having to do it each evening.

Thanks "Dodgy". Being able to schedule the pre-heat seemed like an obvious thing to have, but so does having a manual that matches the car :-(

Actually, having a permanent temperature display and a decent SatNav also seem like fairly obvious things to have - possibly why other manufacturers chose to do it 10 years ago !!!

Hi, so I’ve played filling up Russian roulette. A couple of times I’ve had in red light power reserve etc refuel immediately. The engine then starts to cut off. My own fault, yes. Just a bit of advice if the car goes into reserve fuel don’t think you’ve got a 20 miles to play with. It’s only 3 or 4 regarding the petrol. Even then the electric one just doesn’t seem to care. Just limps to the filling station.
My only niggle with a great car. My son has just bought a fully loaded 1 series m145i. Would I swap yes, but could I live with it? Don’t know but would like to try.

Been looking at this forum for a few months but this is my first post. Great community with lots of knowledgeable people and valid comments.

Bought a C350e a year ago mostly for my wife to drive, it’s a Sport Premium Saloon in blue. She came out of an E350 coupe diesel so bit of a leap of faith but she is loving the C350e and it’s saving loads in fuel costs. Loved that 3.0 V6, bags of power and sounded nice but had to move on

We had a Chargemaster charge point fitted at home, she drives 10 to 15 miles per day so it spends most it’s time running on electric. It takes about 2.5 hours to charge on the chargemaster compared to 4hours on the brick charger which was a pain in butt to use.

Performance is great especially in Sport plus , more than compensates for the loss of the E class. Can’t say we have had any problems with it apart from keep getting messages on my phone saying the sunroof is open and the windows are open when they are not, anyone else had that? Mercedes Me are stumped with it and keep telling me to try different things but it keeps doing it at random.

The other one, often you can plug the cable in, lock the doors and the little green light comes on but it simply does not charge. Open the doors, pull the cable out then go through the plug in process again then it will charge...found as well if you unlock the car when it’s still charging to get some thing out then lock it again and it won’t resume charging..so you have to unplug the cable and start again.

Wife has arthritis so the pre climate is great

Both you issues sound like software glitches. Not happening on my car.
