Ouch!! These are deep :-(
I'd made a deal with the local Merc's recommended body shop for a quick repair, i.e. drop in the morning-> collect the afternoon! It is possible to complete the job in one day in a warmed up workshop as they usually have (use) the mixed up paint for other jobs! If you avoid requesting a loan vehicle and other formal stuff, you'll get a good deal directly from the workshops- well that's my experience anyway ;-)
Send us pictures when it's done and good luck.

From my own checks last year, it goes up in 18/19 and again in 19/20. However so do all the other rates, it's a general BiK escalator.

The new system proposed in the budget last time moves ULEVs into a tiered banding based on 'mileage on pure electric'. From memory on the proposed figures the C350e is at the top of the ULEV bands. In theory it means that in 21/22 the BiK will drop slightly from the previous year.

I could be wrong though.

Spot on, I will look to change in early 2021 unless subsequent budgets change this view. Would love to think there may be a Uk owned/manufactured car that fits the bill by then.

Still lower than diesel though I guess? I'll have the car till May 21 so still worth a punt.

Another update. The lease company just updated me to say "the garage has advised it is a lower screen seal". I immediately thought, oh no it was Autoglass's fault but they went on to say, "Mercedes have said this will be covered by Mercedes warranty and are aiming for completion on Friday." While I'm pleased I won't have to go through Autoglass any further, I'm disappointed my first Mercedes ever has had this fault. My 15 year old Mondeo in the 5 years I had it faired better :(
So it'll be a week if I get the car back Friday and I'll be happy to return this van, they call the B Series, Mercedes gave me as a temp car.

Last update (I hope) I shall be picking my car up tomorrow. Its been with Mercedes since around the 5th October and I'll be very happy to get my car back and return the Kia Optima I've had from Europcar.

Can anyone provide advice on where I might stand for complaint?
It does not seem reasonable that my car, due to awaiting parts, should take almost 7 weeks to resolve without some kind of compensation. I've been paying my mercedes lease costs for a Kia! Even if it had been a Merc, the spec would not have been the same.
At this point I've had to request a full charge before picking it up and can't currently get anywhere on the what I think is a small gesture of returning the car with a full tank too!

I can’t comment on this specifically, but I think pretty much every encounter with Mercedes warrants a complaint.

They told me the charging cable that fell apart on me wouldn’t be covered by the electric power train warranty. I told them to shove off and they came back a few weeks later offer to replace it as a gesture of goodwill. Three weeks later, there’s still no sign of the replacement cable, no call to explain the delay, no customer service to speak of.

It took me less than two weeks to have a proper charging point installed, but it’s taken Mercedes more than two months to NOT replace a cable...

Tonight’s little drama: annoyed that the car wasn’t charged after the last time it was used, I flipped it into sport+ and promptly found myself going sideways. Note to self - 300bhp on slippery roads equals insufficient grip.

By coincidence I usually fit my winters at the start of November. Eventually got them fitted on Thursday. It snowed on Friday
hehe.gif

I’ll wager I can still end up sideways on winter tyres!

I see all the snow tweets on #uksnow, but there’s nothing here...

Without a spare tyre or runflats I was grateful for the tyre pressure monitoring system which upon entering and starting the car advised me that the left rear tyre pressure was low and needed immediate attention. It was down to 140 from around 270, happened in the space of about 2 hours. Drove straight to the local tyre shop, turned out to be a screw on the edge of the tyre and was non repairable. Anyhow 2 new rear tyres later problem sorted, phew!

Quick update.

My 350e (been on order since July) has now been pushed back to a 30 April 2018 delivery!

Ordered through Arval, they have asked me to confirm I still want it as the blue calipers, blue tinge to the lights and the blue "hybrid" badges are all going to be silver on the one I'm getting which I assume means it will be the facelift 2018 model.

This is dragging on now......

I still haven't heard of anyone succeeding in getting the KPH indication changed to outside air temperature. Can the car settings be switched to KPH on the speedo in order to get a permanent temperature display?

The outside temperature gauge only shows on the odometer screen.
The metric speed readout is always there.

Do you mean that even if the odometer is switched to show metric speed the area at the bottom left still shows metric speed rather than temp? B*&&er! I thought that might be a way around the stupid design restriction.]

Nope, afraid not. It's a stupid MB UK decision to display KM speed all the time. On the older cars you could use the STAR diagnostic machine to turn off the "UK setting". It's really pointless. Who needs metric speed in the UK? There should be a driver option to enable it only when required, but that seems too logical.

If you drive with the energy flow diagram visible the temp is only one click away.

Very odd that other manufacturers seem able to display temperature, and even to generate a warning if it gets into the icing range. Has anyone written to Daimler Benz about this yet?
From a quick search: the UK CEO is [email protected] and the board of the parent company includes: Dr. Dieter Zetsche (CEO), Ola Källenius (R&D, cars), and Britta Seeger (marketing, cars). A few well argued letters might do some good. One approach is to emphasise that a possible misinterpretation (or sub-optimal implementation) of the EU requirements has led to a decrease in awareness of road conditions (and therefore safety) for UK drivers that does not exist anywhere else in the EU. Perhaps an MEP or two could be dragged-in to help.

What about getting the Daily Mail to take a picture of you with a sad compo face next to your car?!
:D;)

Update on mine....

I am still perusing the dealer about the reduction in the electric range and battery capacity.

It's obviously much worse because of the weather but the thing that is consisent is that it's only pulling around 3.9kwh to fully charge from our pod points while my colleagues c350e pulls around 4.9kwh to fully charge.

The big difference, he's done about 500 charges and i've done 1000 because I charge at home.

Am making a big fuss, but at this rate by the time my car is handed back it will only be able to take on about a 2.5kwh charge!!

Other than that.....no problems, but the increasing BIK and the decreasing electric capacity are making it much less economical a prospect than summer 2016.

I see that winter mpg is back with a vengeance ...

And is it just me (and I work in a tech industry) or are you all sceptical about self-driving cars given the lack of robustness of our own MBs? The M Me app is not reliable, recently it’s been taking minutes to log in, or sometimes keeps wanting me to log in repeatedly, I’ve once had the entire car shut down while driving and need a restart/reboot with every single display warning light on at once, occasionally the Bluetooth phone connection just decides to ignore my phone or the USB media player just fancies forgetting all my music and needs to read it all in again for no particular reason.

If you can’t reliably make the pre-entry climate control timer work or you have made a sat nav that tells me to turn left at a roundabout when you really mean right, how can I be sure you’ll avoid that oncoming artic?

Sorry, just moaning, still love driving my car around, the good outweighs the bad many times over.

Merry Christmas!

It is very irritating not having the out side temperature displayed which seems to be a major design flaw. I think though having a kph display on a UK speedometer ie having dual markings is a requirement so I doubt that Daimler will relent on switching kph off and having outside temperature in its place.

We keep getting bogus messages coming on the app saying the windows and roof are open, guessing p’d off with Mercedes me now keep asking for meaningless information, think they have no clue so they just keep kicking the can down the road.
