C350e owners club

Hi Gillo, mine has been on order since July, and it is slated to come to me next wednesday. The wait is killing me. Does yours have the old style rotary control and trackpad over it on the center console or the new rotary control without the trackpad on top? Also, do you have the new steering wheel?

And the sunroof as standard. Has yours got that?

I have totally lost any faith to dealers what so ever!!!

I got my car back today , they balanced all 4 wheels ... (Took 3 days to do that) and also they managed after 3 visits to put the temperature display on the main screen.

Once more I picked up my car and it was not valeted ... Dirty exterior. And this time I found an empty Co-op coronation chicken sandwich box on the footwell of the passenger side???
I don't ever like coronation chicken so highly unlikely to be mine.

Mercedes denied any knowledge or involvement to the sandwich box.

I am speechless to say the least...

Well the car is booked for Monday again for the dealer to sort out the steering vibration.

It is booked with an indefinite period until the problem is solved. They will not give it back before it is test driven.

I did have the MB customer services involved as well.

Now the other question I have is regarding the gearbox gear downshifts in S+ are violent. Espeically at lower speeds. Is it meant to be like that?
Mind that I am not using the steering shift pedals. S+ and fully automatic function.

Mine always has been. That's why I don't use Sport+. I think it's "a feature" to make it feel like a racing car. It just bangs them through, especially on the downshift. Bit unnecessary really!
(Sounding like an old fart now).

I quite agree, they have totally missed the point with Sport+ IMO. I drove a mates F Type S spec and that gearbox was bloody epic. All the “sport” any sane person could ask for but utterly smooth.

Surely this is a software fix. Its the same physical box in all modes.

How bad is the steering vibration? Does it feel like a wheel out of balance or not as bad etc.?
I notice I have a bit of vibration through the steering wheel and my right foot at motorway speeds - I suspect it's just the tyres and a bit of harshness. The good news is the tyres seem to be lasting fairly well, the bad news is that means I don't get to find out if better tyres fixes the vibration.

Once you hit 68mph then the steering starts vibrating not massive but enough to make numb hands after some time.

Can feel a vibration on the floor as a passenger or driver.

If you brake from speed you can feel it harder on the steering wheel asp after a longer drive.

They have so far replaced front disks and pads and balanced all 4 wheels

Not sure what they plan to do next. The tyres are 8mm 7mm 7mm and 4mm the one on the rear. They are all Kuhmo's original spec and model.

Still I expect the car to be sorted as it's been like this since I picked it up. So looking forward to do some traveling with out any vibrations. Otherwise I am giving it back get a refund and go for a Lexus.

Interesting.
My tyres are Hankooks, so that doesn't appear to be common. I've not tried / needed to brake hard, I may give that a try.
Regarding the numb hands, just a thought, is that definately related to the vibration or do you not get numb hands after a similar amount of time when there is no vibration at lower speeds? I found I was getting uncomfortable hands at one point, however I eventually realised that the steering wheel was a bit far away and I was unwittingly pushing on it. I moved the steering wheel closer to me to stop me doing that, which helped.
I'm surprised they've not tried changing the tyres.

Apologies I made a mistake my tyres are Hankooks too lol

The driving position is fine I am sure, my other half experience the same problem regarding fine vibration and hands.. it is like grabbing on a vibrating motor lol

The question then becomes whether anyone else with Hankooks has vibration in the steering wheel / on the floor etc.?

Mind you I do not have this problem with any of our other 6 cars... So it has to be something wrong with the C350e

It is annoying as I have done 269miles on Wed and 336miles on Thu. As you can guess most of those miles are motorway visiting various work buildings and the whole experience is spoiled by this.

My biggest annoyment is that I bought the car being plug in hybrid congestion excempt and cheaper parking in Westminster....
And none of their courtesy cars offer that.
So apart from paying for a car I haven't had for 2 weeks (workshop downtime) out of 6 weeks of ownership.
I am also out of pocket when it comes to ease of use.

Never had a problem with my Hankooks. Nearly three years of smoothness, I’m afraid...

I'd be prepared to believe it was a combination problem, i.e. 350e and those particular Hankooks, but if Dodgy doesn't have a problem, then maybe not.

My original Hankooks were fine to. Not a hint of steering wheel vibration. 2 years 22k miles. Now on Pirelli rears.

Some have had issues with using the hold break. Apparently, the theory is there's material transfer from the pad to the disk. I only say this because you observe it's worse under light breaking.
