C350e owners club

Well I only had the car for 6 weeks and done 4000miles
Not much of depreciation there I bet.

Plus if we consider my losses having to go back and forth all the time and loss of business hours.
I think I lost more than them

Lol

It lost 10% as soon as you drove it off the forecourt! If you want a laugh get a quote from webuyanycar (although they'll keep nagging you afterwards).

To be honest with you I don't care about depreciation. They cannot repair the car therefore this is their problem not mine.

I expect a full refund as I only just bought the car and this fault has been there since they delivered the car to me.

If you do decide to return the car, maybe it would be worth posting the VIN here in case the next owner ends up here complaining of similar - if there is evidence the car has been returned due to the problem and just sold on that would help them a lot.
I'm slightly confused though, you say you've only had the car 6 weeks and done 4k, your profile says it's a 2015 model - did you buy this used or is your profile out of date?
Bummer about loosing the money on the customisation though.

I bought the car as approved used. I got it as a company car on HP finance.

It's a late December 2015 car. It was a Mercedes finance car assuming a lease car as it was VAT qualifying which was one of my requirements.

So the car had still factory warranty topped up with 3months tier1 approved used warranty.

Although it is a 2yo car, the whole reason I bought it from main dealer is that I wanted a reliable car to do my commuting to London and back every week.

On average I do 180-300miles in a day including London driving.

I shall wait to see what happens... When we spoke on the phone in the afternoon they said they wanted the courtesy car back and they would like us to collect the car.

Then we received a text saying not to worry about returning the courtesy car and that they will be in contact.

Now you go and figure out...

Interesting. One wonders if the first owner noticed the problem or returned it because of the problem - no way of finding out I guess.
Also makes me wonder about my own vibration. Mine is an ex lease car which was less than 1yo and 8k miles when I bought it. Rather unusual to have a lease less than 1 year although I realise they can be terminated early etc.. Or was it similarly returned early because of the vibration.
I also bought mine from a main dealer for simlar reasons, however at one point I phoned up the lease company to ask about the car - they wouldn't tell me much but did let on that they simply sold the car at BCA. So much for going to an MB main dealer to get a premium car - they just get them from auction the same as any other garage does.

Yeah they told me the same that they buy some cars from BCA.

But again this is the way the lease companies sell their cars back to the network though.

We have a trade account with BCA, but this car was bought for our IT business so it had to come properly from a dealer for obvious reasons re taxing and finance.

BCA prices were not much different to the main dealer network prices. Plus from the main dealer network you get the benefit of the approved used warranty.

If the previous owner didn't do any motorway they would have not even noticed the problem being there.

I would take it back and get the money back you paid for it. You will never be happy with the car.
There are plenty of C350es about, and plenty without problems. You could even ask the dealer to source one and do a straight swap. Might be worth a call to the finance company and explain what's happening.

I just had the car returned today and received a full refund.
They kind of wanted us out of there sooner than later to be honest

So what are you going to replace it with?

One God knows. I am in a strange mood where nothing inspires for a replacement.

However I came across a '16 plate BMW 640d Grand Coupe today. But it is not VAT qualifying :-(

Great news about the refund!

I'm being nosy now.
Why the need for VAT qualifying? Do you run it only as a pool car?

It is a purely company car, indeed. So I want to get the benefit out of it.

It is used only by me though, the employees have their own cars lol

And I'd like to know the CarPlay/Android Auto situation too. I read somewhere that all 2018 cars were coming with both as standard.

If no one who has taken delivery recently can confirm....... I get my C350e tomorrow!!!!!!!

How are you finding the car? Does it have Apple Carplay? What about the blue brakes?

Yes, makes sense. I'd keep an eye out for a 330e or 350e and then you still get your travelling into London benefit. I think you were unlucky with the one you got. They do have their foibles, but overall they're a good car.

When you say the 330e I take it you're refering to the BMW? Be careful with the BMW - they've not bothered to convert it properly from LHD! The plug is on the front nearside wing so on getting out of the car you have to go to the other side to plug it in! Oh and if like me you park it in the garage and have to park close to the left wall so you can actually get out then tough, you can't charge it in the garage!! You'll also loose the 'hold' brake (i.e. firm push on the brake pedal). There is however a new model 3 series out later this year - no idea if they've fixed the above in that.

EVening all,

I am considering purchasing a 2015 C350e. Test drove one at a main dealer today, and found the paintwork was full of swirl marks, the interior had several rattles (really noticeable from driver's A pillar) and whilst the steering was quick and the car gripped the road well, the car felt quite a bit loose, suspension wise, as if it had done more miles than the 30k. Or maybe because of the air suspension they feel that way to a newbie? Apart from that a lovely car, and despite being fully charged overnight, it showed 11 miles range which dropped to 8 miles range just by driving out of the dealership!

The rattles left me feeling surprised. I've had two Lexus cars, both bought with 100k miles used, and they were rattle free even at 150k miles. The dealer said they can fix the rattles if I buy it (can they really?), but do you think it's worth test driving another one at a different dealer?

I px’d my Sept 2015 C350e with 28k on it and everything was as new - no rattles, suspension reasonably tight in Comfort - look on here and you’ll see the drop in electric range is normal. I would take another for test drive and I am sure you’ll find a difference.

Maybe go for another test drive and put it into Sport mode (it's normal for the engine to be on all the time) and then see if the suspension firms up. In Comfort mode the suspension is quite soft - great for cruising, but not good for going around corners fast. Also if you have a concern about the suspension, try raising the suspension (button in the centre console) and make sure no warnings come on. It will go down again once you go above a certain speed if you don't lower it yourself. IIRC the warranty on the air suspension is quite long.
To me the range drop from 11 to 8 so quickly does seem odd, again, maybe on the next test drive put the display on battery %, check it is close to 100% and see how quickly it drops, but to be fair it does drop fairly fast, but I'd not expect it to drop too fast until you get on the road. Someone here had a gadget you could plug in which gave the voltages of all the cells, MB must have access to the same too, so maybe worth asking about that and check for any low cells. There is a 5 year warranty on the battery I believe, but you don't want to have to try and enforce it.
If you're happy with everything else, you can easily turn around and say that you'll buy the car subject to them fixing the rattles to your satisfaction and another test drive (they may want a deposit, up to you if you do). You could do likewise with the swirl marks, or just accept them or get someone to fix it after you buy the car.

Two ways to look at it, there are plenty of other cars out there or every car is going to have it's minor faults / niggles.

That's one thing I hate, car dealers who don't prepare cars until after you've put a deposit down and it's too late to back out.

Well mine arrived Thursday. C350e Sport Premium Plus. Not been out in her properly (little one has a vomiting bug!).

For anyone else waiting for one in the near future;
I've not got the Blue Callipers (reasonably smart looking silver ones. But I thought the blue looked boss, so bit gutted).
I don't think I've got the blue headlights either.
It's got some naff "EQpower" side badges that are coming off this afternoon.
For the rest I'm not sure I don't remember my configurator having the kick to open boot thing, but I do have it.

Oh and I've got some awful "Arval leasing" embossed floor mats.... They will be the second thing to go!
