Is anyone charging using the granny cable on the max setting and not getting red hot pins on the plug?

The second faceplate on my outdoor socket has now cracked from the heat and wondering whether it is undersized wiring or this is normal.

I use the granny charger but on half setting because I didn't like how hot it got on full whack.
Given I charge overnight, charging speed is not an issue. I would turn it down before you have a fire!

Just spoke to the leasing company and he told me the warranty has expired.

He sounded disappointed when he told me about the finance being paid off. Don’t know why.

The original agreement was with Motonova with an interest rate of 15% Apr. My credit score is poor and wasn’t able to get anything decent.

Asked someone to get me a personal loan at a cheaper rate and I’m paying £600 pm.
I don't mean to be rude but it sounds like you're well out of your depth with this car.

600pm is a rediculous amount to pay imo. Especially if you're unable to then repair the car if required.

Again, not that it's my business but I would sell up, cut your losses. Buy a car for half the cost (300pm) and have the extra cash put aside for if anything does go wrong.

No worries.

I’d be interested in the result of that as I might renew the “remote services” pack and would be expecting HV battery charge state to be included.

Sorted now Chris-S...... I was given wrong information yesterday :(; it wasn't the Vehicle Set-up Package I needed - it's the Remote & Navigation Services Package. You can only renew that one for 3 years (I only really wanted a year) but it's only £39 for the 3 years. I now have the State of Charge Reinstated and the Pre-entry Climate. MercedesMe have removed the incorrect package and refunded me. I suppose the moral of the story is that I should have done the research myself (like you clearly have done) and not relied on the 'Experts'. :wallbash:

@Sraj It's always easy to be wise after the fact, and I do appreciate how irritating it must be to have folk like me saying "you should have got a warranty"!! I feel for you mate, it can be hard to manage expenses.

Up until very recently, I always bought old sheds and fixed them myself. Until buying this Merc 3 years ago, I NEVER paid for servicing work - always did my own. I only ever bought one car with borrowed money and I really didn't like it! That was a good few years ago now and I paid it off as fast as I could by working 2 jobs. There's so much pressure these days to 'go large' isn't there :(

Whatever you decide to do - fix & keep, or sell on, keep us posted, and best of luck.

Ah, that's interesting, sounds like my battery charge state should be working then as that was the bundle I bought. ISTR it said I should get charging control, but I don't. Looks like I need to get in touch with them then. Could I ask, who did you call/how did you contact them?

you were spot on with everything you said in your message.

I’m going to look at a VW Passat diesel and see what I can find.

To be honest, I’ve got no one to blame except for myself for this latest clanger. I always make others richer and make myself poorer.

I tried to get out of the deal prior to collecting, but the seller refused to cooperate with both myself and finance company.

Very disappointed with this outcome. Also don’t know how much I’m going to get for my car.

Hi all,

Thought this would be the best place to get some feedback. I currently have a private number plate on my company C350e, I will be changing my vehicle early next year and will have the plate put on retention. Would there be any interest from anyone on here with regards to purchasing the number plate.

The plate is C3SOE

Anyone interested?

I rang 020 7660 9993 and spoke to a guy called Miklos Antal, who was very helpful and efficient. It's probably worth asking for him by name because I had wrong advice from whoever I spoke to yesterday and I've had an email today from a Magdalena Osoba (who I also spoke to on the same number), advising that "due to new company policy, in order to see the Mercedes me App Battery page, both Vehicle Setup and Remote and navigation services are required." This seems to be wrong information because Miklos immediately cancelled my Vehicle Set-Up package and yet I can see the Battery % Charge/Range with only the Remote & Navigation package! Interestingly; on the "Trips" page, I can now only see distance (but no MPG) for both "From Start" and "From Reset". I can live without that I think! Also, at the moment it's just showing "--" for all the tyre pressures - but that may be because I haven't driven the car since it was reinstated.

Thanks John - on with them now. Magdalena I think, tried an app reinstall - no change(!), she's just getting a 'reset' done now.

...got to drive the car for a bit within the next 48 hours apparently to make sure the comm reset completes??

More anon...

Hope it all works! I'm not sure I entirely believe the need to drive the car for a bit........My App updated yesterday after I just turned the ignition on then off!

Me neither....and it didn't do owt anyway. Just back from a 20 minute round trip to nowhere and no change. I've emailed back to support and quoted the name of the chap that sorted you out as well, and what happened with your, just in case it helps them sort it.

If it's any consolation; I made a completely futile trip to my nearest Merc Dealer yesterday 28 mile round trip) because it said on the website that I needed to present my Passport and log book to the Dealer for them to 'Activate' the service. The Dealer knew even less than I did about Mercedes me! After keeping me waiting for a good hour they eventually said they would investigate what they needed to do and call me back in the afternoon. Needless to say 30 hours later I'm still waiting for that call.....
It could possibly be worth you uninstalling the App and reinstalling it? Lol - I'm sounding like a Computer Tech. now! Hope you get it sorted.

I hope they don't start that nonsense with me - I've had the car from new, along with a perfectly functional (as far as it goes) Mercedes Me setup, running on 3 different devices. The trouble started after renewal of the Remote & Navigation package. I didn't even let the old one expire, I 'extended' the service, to use their parlance.

I did try a re-install, no change.

No doubt it'll turn into an epic....

After 5 years of providing an app for access to car features, you’d have thought Mercedes Benz would have figured out how to make it work without annoying more people than they serve.

Hi guys,

I took my car to Mercedes Waltham Cross and they did a diagnostic checks. They didn’t wash my car, which wasn’t a big deal, but mentioned that I needed a new thermostat.

The cost of the thermostat is £838 inc vat and labour. They said it’s 3.5 hrs labour.

I’m not happy about this because I mentioned there was an issue with the thermostat at Mercedes Loughton and they didn’t seem to care.

I bought the car from a leasing company in August 2019. The mileage was 61788, 16 plate vehicle. The cost was £19000

When I drove off and entered the Motorway, the cruise control didn’t work. I booked an appointment with Mercedes Stratford and they told me that my rear discs were corroded and they wanted £202.80 for a diagnostic to investigate the cruise control fault. I explained this to the seller and he refused to pay because it was too expensive, so I took my car to a bmw specialist. The diagnostic was £60 and he told me that I needed a new thermostat because that fault kept coming back.

I told the seller this and he told me that’s incorrect and he decided to pay for a diagnostic with Mercedes. That’s when I took my car to Loughton.

I explained everything to the advisor and he didn’t care much. He told me there was nothing wrong with the thermostat, but needed a new radar sensor and bracket. The cost was £1035, which the seller refused to pay.

Sellee booked the car with SNAUTOHAUS and they were absolutely useless. They failed to repair the car and I wanted to return the car under the consumer rights. Seller refused to take the car back.

Anyway, Gem-tech fixed the car after one month and the seller was able to claim everything on his Warranty.

The issue now is the thermostat problem was still there when I bought the car and I don’t understand why no one wanted to sort this issue out.
Mercedes-Benz did a battery check and it’s running at 90%.

trying to upload pictures but keeps saying it’s too large

Hi Sraj, I would guess nearly £500 of the cost is labour, have you tried an Independent Merc dealer the cost will probably be half that.
Found the website below which quotes £211 labour and will tell you the price of the thermostat separately, this appears to be a mobile service.
As mentioned by others the fuel economy of the car should improve drastically once fixed along with tips others have given.
Hope this helps.

Mercedes told me if I had warranty the thermostat would have covered it.

It’s going to take me at least a month before I can save that kind of money because I only earn £1200 after tax.

Mercedes also told me that the battery miles range on my car is between 11-14 miles, but that depends on heating, outside temperature and style of driving. He added that the c350e are not very economical at all.

That’s the latest on my car. Not sure what to do now because £837 is a lot of money, especially as I’ve only had the car for 4 months

My car which is 13 months old shows 14 miles at 100% charge so doesn’t seem there is much wrong with the battery side of things with your car.
