Hi Guys. I am new here.

Just have a question. Today I was to have a look Merc350E from 2016. I want to buy but after inspection My mechanic diagnozę with oBD2 Error ECM. Somebody had a same problem. On dashboard doesn t show anything - Just When we check with OBD2.

We checked another C350E and show up The same fault.

What diagnostic tool was used? Having two C350e showing the same fault seems a little odd? Could be the tool at fault.

Hi Sraj, I would guess nearly £500 of the cost is labour, have you tried an Independent Merc dealer the cost will probably be half that.
Found the website below which quotes £211 labour and will tell you the price of the thermostat separately, this appears to be a mobile service.
As mentioned by others the fuel economy of the car should improve drastically once fixed along with tips others have given.
Hope this helps.

True enough - somebody has to pay for the glass & chrome palaces that are MB dealers. Oh, yeah, that would be us wouldn't it.

I hope they don't start that nonsense with me - I've had the car from new, along with a perfectly functional (as far as it goes) Mercedes Me setup, running on 3 different devices. The trouble started after renewal of the Remote & Navigation package. I didn't even let the old one expire, I 'extended' the service, to use their parlance.

I did try a re-install, no change.

No doubt it'll turn into an epic....

My epic continues too....... Drove the car last night for the first time since they 'fixed' the App; now I've lost the State of Charge icon again. Back to square one. With all this grief (now into it's third day), plus when I booked the MOT they booked it with the wrong Dealer; they then ignored both emails when I tried to get it corrected. I ended up rebooking it correctly on-line, and received a confirmation email. Despite that, when I arrived, the Dealer had no record of the booking! I seem to have spent most of this week trying to sort the car out. Then to add insult to injury; I checked the price of the service (due March) online and found that they want £681 for an Oil Change plus a number of checks - a lot of which are done anyway as part of the MOT. I absolutely love the car, but I am so tempted to go back to BMW because the Mercedes infrastructure just drives you to distraction. With the BMW I had a brand new gearbox fitted under warranty (literally just before it expired), all handled with total efficiency and without any grief to me of any sort, with a courtesy car provided free of charge, again without question. That's what we should be able to expect with a 'Premium' car.

That doesn’t sound encouraging....

I wasn’t happy with the supplying dealer so tried another earlier this year when trying to get the Nav maps updated. The process went well so I decided to give them another try and had them do the MOT and 3rd service. Again, all went well, so for now at least, I seem to have found a competent dealer.

Sadly though, I have no confidence or trust in MB as a company based on my interactions with them so far.

The servicing costs are outrageous aren’t they. I paid up front for the 1st service then took out a contract for the next 3 (better value that way) and will likely renew that for another 3 years (if I can). After that, the 6 year hybrid warranty will be up and from that point I’ll go DIY as I have for every other car I’ve owned. The only reason I’ve bothered with the servicing is to keep the warranty.

@JohnC350e That service figure, is it the 5 year service? That includes gearbox oil change (which is stupidly expensive).

I think I'll be taking mine to a very good German Car Specialist I use. For an awful lot less than Mercedes want for an Oil Change, I can have him do a full service on it. To be honest, I hate using Main Dealers for servicing because you just know they're going to put the Workshop Junior on something as basic as a glorified oil change; whereas going to my guy, I know I've got a Master Technician working on my car. It's just annoying that it hits the resale value of the vehicle so much because it won't have a full Main Dealer Service history. Mind you; if the Autotrader 'Trade in value' for my car is correct (and I've usually found them to be pretty accurate), then WeBuyAnyCar are offering well over £1,000 more; and their website quote only asks whether the car has "Full Service History".

I seem to have unexpectedly arrived at a cross-roads; do I keep the car I love and just accept that I'll take it completely outside of the Main Dealer network from here on in; or chop it in at huge financial loss, and go back to a BMW which as a car, I found less suited to my needs than the Mercedes. At the back of my mind is the fact that although excellent, my German Car Specialist will have extremely limited knowledge of the Hybrid aspect of my car, were that to go wrong. It's a dilemma because the car is covered by Mercedes Used Approved warranty until next May - but that will likely be invalidated after March if I don't have it serviced at Mercedes.......

No, that's for the three year service (Service B) which is slightly late because the last one was late as the car was sitting on a Mercedes forecourt. I looked at the breakdown of what's done and literally the only items replaced are the Oil and Oil Filter; and a lot of the checks are safety related, so mirror what has just been done (at Mercedes) when they did the MOT.

Hi Mike, thanks you for your message. I’ve tried several Mercedes specialists and I’ve been quoted £500-£700.

I spoke to the guy that did the original diagnostics for £60, which showed faulty thermostat, and he’s not interested in doing the job. I was disappointed by his comment, but appreciate his honesty.

I rang the company where I bought the car from and he’s completely ignoring me. Car salesman’s will always be one thing - complete ****ers after taking your money.

I’ve been looking at different cars and most of them have a bland spec compared to my car. It’s not going to be easy to find a lovely car like mine.

Mercedes told me the thermostat costs £122 inc vat.

That’s truly shocking price for the 3rd service. Not even a brake fluid change in that one. Mine just had the 3rd service but as it’s on the service contract, they average out to £420, which is bad enough. TBH, I try not to think about how little I get for that amount of money. As I say, as soon as any hope of warranty is past, I’ll DIY. Perversely though, if it did need some warranty support for the hybrid stuff (standard warranty now expired and I wasn’t going to renew that at the prices they quote), I’d expect MB to try their best to wriggle out of it, so it begs the question as to why I bother with the service at all given I plan in keeping this at least 10 years.

Sraj, no problem. So with clickmechanic.com it should only come to around £330, sounds better than £800.
I know when you have continuing problems with a vehicle you don’t have the same looks on it so at the end of the day you have to decide. Whatever you decide best of luck.

Anyone have issues with condensation in the headlights after all the heavy rain and foggy weather over the last few days.. [emoji53] Believe there is a repair kit(dehumidfy bags...) that can be swapped out on the back of the headlights.. Anyone an exploded drawing of the lights or schematic.. Tks

Mine came up with service indicator (2016 with 77k miles = 5 year service) price from the dealer was similar at 550euros and very little done. This quote was automatically generated from the mercedes me system and I called my dealership and said it to the service manager.. She said that fixed price service was 279 euros and that they would alway checkout most of the 'extra' bits that was included on the original quote.. Basically she was saying to ignore the first quote... Moral of the story (for me anyway) is ring and discuss a better price if you can [emoji4]..

[QUOTE="It's a dilemma because the car is covered by Mercedes Used Approved warranty until next May - but that will likely be invalidated after March if I don't have it serviced at Mercedes.......[/QUOTE]

Reading my warranty booklet it only states that the service has to be done in accordance with the manufacturer's specification to claim on warranty nothing about servicing at main dealership.
Mine is still under the initial 3yr warranty so not sure if it’s different for a used car warranty.

Two independent Merc garages in our area actually upload the service to MB so it becomes part of the service record.

I have condensation in my headlights as well. To be honest I just ignore it, it usually dries out after a long drive with the headlights on.

I have had this on my car and it clears itself, it is mentioned in the owners manual that it can happen but not an issue.

Yep Mike, i seen that in the manual.. My thoughts on it was long term prevention by replacing the dehumidfy bags in the back of the headlights, in theory they should last a long time but as im the second owner and the car is 5yrs old im not sure how exposed it was to damp weather, think it was owned by someone down the south west of England previously .. Fair comment re discussing the price I guess; but as the online quote included a breakdown of how little it actually includes, I'm not expecting much joy. Mine is 2016 as well, but only done 25k. I'm still not convinced that the money isn't better spent getting my guy to give the car a Full Service though.

Yrp would agree that a full service is best, unfortunately in Ireland we dont have the opportunity to get a fixed service warranty from dealers for new or used cars so most people tend yo use indys (me too) but as this is a hybrid im thinking that for the main services i should be using the dealers.. for now anyways[emoji849]
