Solid White Estate, ordered mid June, confirmed build slot, delivery to dealer late January. Company car, no options (rep special!?) I've already had to pay towards costs to get the Estate (for the extra potential capacity) so couldn't justify paying more for options or metallic.

Dan

had to pay towards costs to get the Estate

Does that mean you have handed money over to perhaps your employer ?
I don't understand that :)

My order was accepted on the 10th April. I do think that corporate sales, large discounts, will not ordinarily be given the highest priority within a dealership.

I am sorry to read that and can understand your disappointment.
Every time I read such reports I wonder if I should anticipate a similar communication from my dealer.
Then I go back to my thinking that commercial sales, i. e, leasing companies , "drivethedeal" and similar sellers only exist because dealerships choose to sacrifice margin and probably rely on a volume overide to turn a profit but at this time it may be difficult.
Consequently any dealer making their allocation available to such schemes when the demand for the 350e from buyers willing to pay full retail is in my view crazy.

And I am at a loss to know why you have understood my comments to be about the merits of buying as opposed to leasing the 350e ?

I understood your post to be about third party sales, corporate/commercial sales as you've called them, getting a lower priority over dealership sales, which you mentioned in post 11 above, which includes lease car companies as you mentioned.

My response was to highlight that my experience with leasing has been different and that manufacturers have a vested interest in lease car companies through their own arrangements. I don't understand your thinking behind your comments hence the post. If there is more to it than that I'm open to different viewpoints on this :)

Well all the evidence regarding delivery dates suggest that in fact I am right. My order was placed after some others and my delivery date is, at present, set to be before those earlier orders, which were corporate sales, however they are described. I had in mind KSD63's experience. Perhaps you can explain why his leasing company has put his delivery back so far

Thanks for clarifying where you are coming from. There's no need to get all uptight about a simple post, I'm not looking for a right or wrong, just a better understanding why you came to your conclusions, as for KS's situation I'm sure he can call the leasing company and find out if he so wishes. I was conveying my experiences which were somewhat different to your conclusions that's all, it's nothing to get irritated about.

My guess is this... (with zero experience of how it works in the background.)

A Dealer orders x number of cars for stock or demo on release date.

Private customer walks into dealer 2 months later, stock cars not reached freeze dates so dealer customizes the "stock" car to suit private customer.

Private customer order may of been placed for them in June, but the car had been really on order from the 1st day of sale.

All guess work, but would seem logical ?

Sytner Affinity

Have a look at this link, they have four C350e (Used) for sale. This is the only place I have seen them for sale.

I wonder if these cars were demonstrators :?:

Yeah, I think they are ex-demos. The badge at the back is different to what we should get when they turn up. These ones say C350 then Plug In Hybrid on the right hand side, but this has now changed to just C350e.

You are right and of course the chrome trim will disappear from the bottom of the rear wings and mirror covers. Inside the "Agility" controlled is renamed "Dynamics", I think it is.

That is right, you can tell we have been doing our homework on the car. Keep us informed of any developments on delivery. I will do the same.

I have a lease allowance for a company car, the Estate pushes me over by £87/month so I am upgrading ie chucking in that £87/month, my current 520d costs me £66/month in upgrade but my BIK tax will drop significantly so I'll still be quids in.

Hope that all makes sense. I would imagine (and my dealer confirms this) that the vast majority of sales will be company purchases.

My PUC price is a bit higher again, but the savings in BIK make it £4k cheaper than a 2.0 GT Estate Passat or £2k on a Skoda Octivia Vrs Estate with options.

@dan123

Crystal clear thank you :)

But now @Driver15 I need "PUC" explaining :)

For me the tax benefits are very tangible as this is a company car subject to BiK.

Currently I drive a reasonably frugal A4 2.0d but this costs me, (according to comcar.com), £391 with private fuel.

The C350e would cost £105.18 and is superior in almost every way and has a much higher list price and specification.

It's a no brainer.

When I ordered mine in March the salesman said they had 2 allocated and mine would be one of those. From March when I paid the £ 1k deposit to confirmed order mid May delivery was 1st week of Sept. I now have a VIN (which works on Connect Me) and delivery to the dealer 3rd Sept. When I spoke to the sales manager he said that each dealership is allocated a certain number and after that it is pot luck ! I think that all of the dealer allocated cars have been taken up so lease companies and the dealers are now in a pool.

Yesssss I have now seen my first brilliant blue estate today , I kept seeing black ones and thought have I made the right choice but now I know I have ,it looked fantastic

Can we all have a go in yours next month while we wait for ours :D

How does the Connect Me work in relation to your VIN , how did you access it etc ?

As there have been so many delayed deliveries I asked for my VIN and was amazed when they gave it to me. I tried checking on other website 'vin checkers' but they said "unknown". So thought I would check the Mercedes.me site and sure enough it let me add the car using the vin and came up with the correct spec. The C350e has the ability to provide the full service so it includes Geofencing, tracker etc. All I have to do is get the dealer to register it when I collect and then I should have full access.

To 350e hi do you have a link to My 16 iteration plus post you was on about ,I am very intrested :thumb:
