I am trying to put the front end of a C36 back together. i've managed to source and install all of the parts apart from the front bumper. A dealership will source this for me at an estimated cost of £700 plus the cost of spraying etc. I was wondering if anybody knows of anywhere else that i could source this from? I am also looking into the option of just putting an C280 elegance front bumper onto the veichle as these are easier to get hold of and a dam site cheeper. I would be very grateful of any help.

Stop by your newsagents and thumb their copy of Mercedes Enthusiast magazine - there are normally lots of breakers in there that might be able to help. Might be the quickest way.

If your local ones don't stock it, you may need to go to WHSmiths.

Good luck finding a replacement.

PS I don't suppose the number plate ends AHN does it?

Thanks for the help guys. I still can not find one so i am going to look into some aftermarket bumpers.

Forgive me if I'm missing something - but if you have an AMG why would you put anything other than AMG bumpers on? The styling is all part of the performance so if you put a non AMG bumper on aren't you going to have a negative effect on overall performance?

I agree ...

If its a C36 , then keep it original .....

There'll be one turn up on ebay sooner or later .....

Buy a normal bumper (from Ebay - pennies) to make do until one turns up , but for Gods sake don't put any aftermarket 'styling' tat on it ...... nothing suits an AMG better than an AMG kit .... putting an aftermarket one on is a bit 'barryish'

Hi Peps again thanks for the concern. I've tried pretty much every main merc breakers in the uk that advertise in mainstream mags/internet/yellow pages/thomson etc etc.... Nobody seems to be able to help as soon as i mention C36 AMG the phone goes down. I'm now getting restless the car has been off the road for over 4 months and has been just waiting a bumper for nearly 2. I'd rather spend £400 and have the fogs and a bumper that is not far away from the orignal but no where near the same if that makes sense. Merc want over £1000 for the same piece and as the car is only worth £5000 is seems silly and i just want it back on the road to enjoy. Also being an aerospace engineer the aerodynamics of the two front bumpers are not that different. you may notice a small amount of down force missing while driving at above 140mph but as i don't do this very often and i'm not a race car driver i don't feel the need for the extra cost.

Cheers

How about the two breaking that Alps listed ?

At the very least put a Merc bumper on it , not a 'barry' one ....
