Finally my pride and joy is restored and rust free. Here is a list of what has been done to the car since my ownership.

•Changed rear right drive shaft
•New spare key + deleted lost key
•Replaced broken boot triangle
•Added Toolkit from previous car

•All tires valves replaced with short ones
•New original AMG valve caps
•New hub caps for alloys
•4 new door seals
•New headlight seals x4
•New bleader pipe clip
•New rear left interior sill cover

•Fixed glovebox light
•LED headlight bulbs

•Fixed AC Compressor Leak
•Changed Cabin filter

•Tightened exhaust because of leak
•Replaced cupholder box

Late September 2021 service:
•Oil change
•Coolant change
•Topcover gaskets
•Oil & Fuel filter
•Cleaned K&N Air filter

Gearbox serviced at 122k miles

August 2024 Update
•All body sanded down to bare metal
•All traces of rust from the body removed
•All undercarriage rust taken care of including
rear boot floor & wheel wells
•Replaced lightstrip on bootlid + 4 new screws
•All 4 door bottom weather strips replaced new
• Whole body respray in original colour including bodykit , sensors, b pillars, mirrors, side mouldings, fuel cap...
• All 4 wheels refurbished back to front
• Dechromed Grill
• Black flat Hood Emblem
• Rear Black Badging

New Side Repeaters

Now the car needs a new radiator and new 02 sensors which are going to be done soon plus changing all filters and fluids.

In the future I'm looking into changing all discs,abs sensors, back plates, shocks, springs, and front lower arms and hopefully it will feel like the day it was new again 😊

Must have cost ya fortune to do a full restore of your car?

Genuine radiators might be difficult to find?

Hey friend, I have been busy these couple of years.

Yes the CV shafts were both original

Thr cost for the restoration wasn't bad actually considering the ammount of work that went into it. I was Charged €6k keep in mind I gave him the car already disassembled.

No unfortunately I didn't find BEHR it is aftermarket I found it on ebay.
I am going to have it fitted next Thursday
+ gearbox oil cooler, 02 sensors, cleaning of the MAF sensor and a general service.

Yeah, if you took it apart before you took your car to the restorer then you did for sure save a lot of money.

How much were CV shafts from dealership?
I imagine they must be quite steep?
Are they remanufactured units?

So MB in Germany doesn't stock genuine rads anymore, rads sold out?
You got a Nissens radiator instead?

New oxygen sensors can do miracles for your car if the old ones are toast?
You only notice issues with bad oxygen sensors when gearbox makes violent upshifts on WOT from standing still.
Bosch sensors are the best ones, however they may go bad before 100,000 miles!?

Do you have a leak from gearbox oil cooler?
Shop do they sell individual O-rings for replacement?
I recommend you to buy gasket lubricant Omega917

You add 3% of the lubricant into engine with fresh oil on the next oil service.
Meaning you have to buy 2 Omega bottles for a V8 but only use 3% in total otherwise your seals will start leaking like a sieve.

After this treatment you need to drive your car for approx 5000km's for treatment to start it's process making gaskets softer again.
MB do leak and owners ignore this common problem most of the time.

If you have oil leaks and fix the problem on time when it's only sweating around front or rear main seal on your engine or transmission seals are wet or differential seals has small leaks you can get these treated with Omega917, this lubricant softener will make your seals soft and healthy again and stop future leaks.
I have been using this for many years now.

Someone's selling this stuff on eBay.
 
The CV shafts were used I don't know if MB still source new ones.
Actually it shifts good but sometimes it idles rough and it gets annoying when creeping on first gear.

The cooler looks fine actually there is a minor leak from the coolant hose but since they like to go bad and kill the gearbox I decided to get a new one while we're at it, thanks for your advice though I will keep it in mind for the future :)
 
Great work. We have replaced a couple of subframes on 202's because of corrosion.

Unfortunately everything likes to rust on 202's 😅 I plan to change the front control arms for that very reason. Are all subframes identical for the 202 or are they different for the c43?

Are you sure about that?

I have just looked up arms for a CLK55 208 and a C43 and the official part number from MB is exactly the same.
 
When MB chopped off the roof on CLK it lost stability, they had to reinforce the convertible for added stability using solid rubber bushings.
Perhaps MB parts department stopped supply certain parts being NLA they now instead offer substitute links with hollow rubber bushings from W202 C43?

Through the years, you must have replaced plenty of front LCA links on W208 convertibles?
Did you ever notice the difference between rubbers being hollow versus soild between 202 AMG and 208 AMG convertible?
Owners doesn't always buy genuine parts, they could differ between aftermarket and OE?
