I was very concerned after reading this and other forums re the crabbing issue prior to collecting my C43 Convertible. Though the majority of posts seem to be from GLC owners, there are lots of comments that the issue affects all C43 platforms so I thought I would share my experience as I could find no posts from someone with a convertible.
CAR
09/2016 Build C43 Convertible. Ex static demo car bought with 240 miles on the clock.
Wheels/Tyres
19" Wheels with Dunlop SportMaxx tyres
Testing done prior to acceptance
No crabbing at all during the following
- Manouvering lock to lock out of tiled showroom
- 12 mile mixed driving, including driving around estates etc
- 5 mins in car park, lock to lock, slow driving
Testing done after collection
More lock to lock slow speed and static manouvering on dry roads - No symptoms
Wet block paved drive - slight judder no worse than any other car
Only noise is some intermittent clunking at the centre position going lock to lock when static on dry tarmac - Just like the McPherson struts on my old escort!
Dealer principle played the party line on the issue but did admit it was worse on the GLC and on his C43GLC it was "very noticable"
Fingers crossed the low mileage is not a factor but so far so good - Anything changes, I will let you know!
