C43 Coupe Convertible
So i slid the car against the kerb and bust off the rear passenger leg, completely

I have all the parts to replace but one part the mercedes parts person cant figure out is the part in the photo that has snapped off,its a long kinda flat with round edges bar, going from rear under boot, across to the side cill, one on each side

im thinking anti roll or strengthening bar

I want to replace the part with new but as ive said, they dont know what it is looking at the photo so cant get the part number

or is it possible to just have it welded?

can anyone help

Only the convertible has them. They are diagonal body stiffening bars. There are two on the back of the car and two on the front. Mercedes have had these diagonal bars on the soft top models for years. If your parts advisor can’t find them he is not very good.

Correct the cars a conmvertible, also correct the parts person hasnt got a clue nor does the mechanic who also looked at the photos

I suppose thats what happens when arnold clark takes on a lifelong Mercedes business who knew everything mercedes and stuck a bunch of feckin idiots into their showroom/parts and then sells every model they pick up at auctions calling them Approved Vehicles

Thanks for that Jobsworth, ill go back in tomorrow and explain to them the part I want,if I have no joy Ill head to Glasgow or Edinburgh Mercedes experts :)

Heres another Question for anyone, one of the suspension arm holders on the sub frame have snapped off, do i get a welder to sort it out or buy a new sub frame?

3rd photo how it should look

All opinions welcome

Oh, you have made a mess of that. If you want to do it right, replace the rear subframe. If you repair it there’s a chance it wont align correctly

How hard did you hit the kerb to do soo much damge ??...It is worrying that soo much damage has been inflicted by hitting a kerb.

the car was going at 60-70 mph when it lost itself in a puddle of muck and leaves and 2 rear low tred tyres (thatll never happen again) it slid back end leftwards towards a really high kerb and it totalled the rear right leg, snapped off the suspension arms, strut spring holder and buggered the wheel. no injuries or airbags deployed, all good
Jobsworth I agree,I have purchased a newish used (fleeby) subframe today to make sure it goes back to factory subframe with no kidden twists, was lucky to find exact one, the bar I mention above I will purchase one from mercedes, i have all the other genuine bits, easy fix when you have the correct parts and mechanic, nuts n bolts really.

"The car lost itself"
What a silly thing for the car to do.
