Just having a quick look online it appears that Mercedes only intended making 1500 C43's. According to the 'how may left' website 387 of these cars were registered in the UK. There are now 280 left on the road and 52 are on SORN.

Does anyone have any more accurate figures than these?

Sounds about right. IIRC there were 140-ish RHD estates and 240-ish saloons.

There were in the region of 5,000 units world wide.
I have a breakdown to manufactured year, the one to get is a 2000 "model", as this had a tiptronic gearbox and different wheels, and very rare, less than 50 in the UK, allegedly only 7 in the states.
I would suggest your "1500" figure is probably RHD cars, afterall we arent the only country in the world that has RHD vehicles.

From another forum:

According to an article in 'Mercedes Enthusiast' last month there were 5221 C36AMG made since 1993, with 378 coming to the UK.

This was later replaced by the C43 AMG with a total of 3857 C43's made with just 406 coming to the UK however just 320 were saloons the rest were estates.

Hi,
I,ll see if I can find my source document, though I believe it is posted on a thread on here somewhere.
