If there is anyone considering looking at the above then I would advise you take into consideration the following.

After a drive down to Swindon with the cash I returned with nothing and did the sensible thing of walking away.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

First off the good bits

Engine and gearbox appear to be sound
All the cars electrics function and the interior is mint.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The two things from the advert which really annoyed me :

128K FMBSH well its on 133k so not too much more but the last stamped service was Jan 06 and the clock showing -3700 £££'s

4* New tyres. All would need changing within 6 months at the very very most ideally I would have changed them all straight away. £££'s

The discs had never been chaged and felt very warn £££'s

Plugs were last changed at 62K so they would need doing again.

Bodywork was rusty around the arches had a slight dent in the rear and one in the bonnet. Also had some rust bubbling on the n/s front of the bonnet. Round the edge of the doors was also starting to go in places and most panel had something that would require work. All in all to get it looking clean it would need a re-spray.

The most concerning bit of rust however was the underbody where the sideskirt lips under the car and joins the floor pan. It had eaten away the undersealant and the floorpan was showing signs of rot along the length of the sideskirt. Immediate action required here.

So whilst I thought the price was a fair reflection of the mileage it was not of the cars overall condition.

If anyone is after anymore info on this vehicle then drop me a PM.

He's contradicting himself straight off the bat. He says in the header :-

NO ONE HAS COME TO VIEW THIS CAR, FIRST TO SEE WILL BUY!!!

And then at the bottom of the ad he says :-

NO TYREKICKERS HAVE HAD LOADS OF THESE, YO KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!

So which is it? Has he had loads of tyre kickers or no-one to look at it? :D

I did indeed.

A cracking car which I now miss, but at the time it was the right thing to do :(

I rang up about this car a few weeks back and I didn't really get a good feeling about it. When you know more about the model of the car than the guy that actually own one then you have to worry!

I was sooo nearly going to buy Stringbags car but in the end I saved myself a few thousand and bought an old BMW 540 Touring (cracking car) instead.

On the flip side of this, there is this car for sale:

I spent the best part of an hour talking to him (well he was talking to me) about the car and he was a great help as well as a very sound guy. I got the feeling that he wasn't shy of a few quid and that always makes me feel better about the car because I 'assume' that its been maintained regardless of cost.

Yes I knew more about the C43 than the seller.

Looking at a 540 tomorrow.

I like this colour combination

Thats called Aqua Marine Blue but from that interior picture it looks as if the driver seat is sagging or is it just me !

It is quite nice - not sure about his comment:

The porsche comment game from the fact that he owned a 911 C4 and he prefered the C43. I'm not sure how he came to that conclusion either to be honest but he sounded genuine. Although I bet it would put some Porsches to shame.

He's got a 355 now and was so impressed with the work that his Merc dealer did on the C43 under the Mobli-thingy that he had some paint work done on the 355 at the same place!!!
