I need some new tyres. I looked and I have 255 on currently but the manual says 245. There seems to be some discussion on the various fora but I can't imagine there is a huge difference unless anyone says different.
245 are a lot cheaper too!

Surely your own question answered?

If you're a decent driver then you can notice 10mm either way on a tyre but it is subtle.

245 will give a more playful handling balance but less traction in the dry.

255 will give you more traction but be weary about running 10mm wider on the rear unless the front is also 10mm wider, otherwise the relative increase in the stagger will give more understeer.

245 is a little skinny for the level of power/torque in a C55 but I've never driven one so don't know how well it manages with it. By comparison the C63 6.2 was specced with 255 and gets notably more traction with 265.

245 is standard. Many owners opt for 255. I’m a 245 kind of guy.
