Folks

My air box on my 55 is looking the worse for wear and really needs painting.

The Chrome AMG Logo's do not come off (they are part of the molding) is this a careful masking job or has anybody any good suggestions on how to retain the chrome but paint the air box?

I expect it'd be a masking job. If taping is too fiddly, try masking fluid.

Is the logo actually chrome? The one on my CLS was polished ally, in which case I'd spray up the air box then polish off the logo?

I'm fairly certain it is plastic and is just molded onto the air box. I am liking Doodle's idea of liquid mask. Thinking I could brush this on liberally and clean the edges with a stanley knife and peel away the excess. Has anybody done this on a fairly large scale? The lettering is about 2.5" tall.

Or spray some Plastidip on the AMG and then pull off what you don't want covered.

Bog standard PVA in the shed would do it.
