C63 507 Model Register

Thought I’d be a 507 owner today..

Came to a deal verbally over text with the car at smallcarsdirect after seeing it once previously.

The oil leak was supposed to have been fixed but unfortunately upon inspection it was still leaking, the cam adjuster also sounded noisey on the passenger side valvetrain (or could it be tappers/cam? Unsure without further inspection). Regardless, another wasted journey unfortunately.

I’ve decided to extend my search now by including a couple other cars. If anyone sees anything please let me know.

I feel your frustration. Anyone looking for one of these cars will almost certainly be reading this thread and picking up on the issues listed on here over what is a good car and what maybe not quite so good. I guess the dealer is holding out for someone who doesn’t do their research and will buy the car based on it’s rarity.

I’m hopeful still despite seeing 7 so far...

Having been to see it once prior I expected he would have fixed the problem which brings his ‘mechanic’ in to question. The more I think about it the more I start to believe it was never touched in the first place and just had some brake cleaner sprayed down and taken on a quick run just prior to me arriving hence it being so hot when I got there.

Yes, I know he will take 35 for the magno black half leather car but the rear bumper missing the decals and being a different colour isn’t great..!

Indeed. It was poor work there. I am sure we have had this discussion before.
 
What tyres are you running on 507's? I am coming to swap the winters out. I am not going to put the set of summers that I got from Mercedes.

Also, anyone running 265's 35 19s on the back?

I’ve seen one with the black on the front grill and bumper vents but don’t think the owner was on here , last I heard it was in MB for paint under warranty so may be a different car

Or may be the same car as it had very distinctive bits wrapped in black front and back :dk:
 
Anyone looking for a Fire Opal Red car , the paint should be unmarked and no micro blisters as it’s just been repainted under Warrenty if it is the car I know of. I don’t think it was used as a daily driver either.

How do these 507s compare to a standard C63 in terms of driving experience? Would a standard car with MSL remap and secondary cat delete give the same experience? Just trying to rationalise the large premium the 507s seem to command.

Everyone will tell you an MSL remap and a Quife diff is better money spent, and for most people they will be right. An unmolested “std” C63 is a great car anyway. I’m reliably informed the missing 15% from the bhp 456 to 507 is due to restriction in the throttle body, hence it’s more top end . Bottom line is day to day , unless you’re a total lunatic, you wouldn’t notice the difference. I can’t remember ever hitting the Rev limiter and I’ve owned both and they are very similar to drive.

The difference comes in the 507 being built in limited numbers and therefore rarer. The alloys, bonnet, Alcantara wheel etc do make a significant difference to the look of the 507, hence it is often copied with E Bay stripes and aftermarket 507 alloys. Long term , probably 10 years down the line the 507 will be “the one to have”, especially “bog standard” “unmolested” with a full service history (preferably MB) with a good spec.

Unfortunately finding a well cared for W204 C63 , let alone a 507, that has not been “molested” is already getting harder to find. As most folk aren’t happy with 456 bhp that they can use 10% of the time (at best) and need 510 plus that they can use 1% of the time and get through tyres in under 2000 miles.

I went to view this, nice car but quite a few owners. Has had bodywork down the front drivers wing and blended into the door, unfortunately lacquered over the decals...but is a pretty damn good job if you can live with it.

Also has some splits in the sunroof seals.

A lovely spec though with keyless.

This is my car. After much deliberation, I decided that I am going to sell. Very tough decision and who knows if it's the right one or not, only time will tell, I suppose.

I don't want to polute this fine thread with any sales pitch on the car, but if anyone wants to ask me questions, just PM me.
