I've been looking for a 507 for some months and have recently purchased a silver 2015 coupe. I feel a bit like a trainspotter as I've kept a record of every car I've seen for sale so for those who are interested here are the Statistics based on a sample of 80 cars.

According to How Many Left there were 233 C63 Edition 507 cars originally registered in the UK
94 in 2013 (1st one registered 01/08/2013)
126 in 2014
13 in 2015 (last one registered 09/03/2015 - Mine)

There are currently 226 cars registered or SORN (presumably the other 7 have been written off or exported?)

Colours:
White 44%
Black 26%
Silver 13%
Magno Platinum 8%
Red 8%
Other 3%

Body Style:
Coupe 78%
Saloon 18%
Estate 5%

Most commonly specified extras:
Privacy Glass
Harmon Kardon - isn't the engine sound enough?
Black Wheels

Least commonly specified extras:
LSD
Driving Assistance Package
Carbon Interior

If anyone has a 507 and would be prepared to send me the details of their car I'd love to add it to the database and maybe one day I'll have a full record of all 507 cars?

Thanks very interesting!

Perhaps of interest to the OP: in Australia there were relatively few 507s - literally only a few Estates - and yet on the MB Aus website there are currently 7 507s for sale through the dealer network - coupes, sedans and 1 Estate. Reckon this would be a reasonable piece of the total 507 pie in Australia. Hardly ever see 507s out and about, let alone 7 for sale at once.

There were quite a few 507s for sale through the UK dealer network during the 1st quarter of this year but none now. Most seem do be for sale through Independent specialist garages.

I used to have a white coupe 507, 63 plate - think it was a Sept 2013 - privacy glass, matt black wheels, harman kardon and LSD. I have the reg etc. Should have kept it :)

Dunc when did you sell it?

Hi I am looking for a 507 Coupe, would really appreciate a chat with a long term owner of these cars, and ofcourse if any are known on here that are currently for sale?

Cheers Vik

A dealership in Watford called ‘Exclusive Autos’ has 507’s for sale. Because they’re a dealership they’re a bit more expensive than private sale. They’ve also got a Black Series up for £130,000.

Here is one of their 507’s. £40,000 though.

Hi Vik

There are always a few 507s for sale at any one time. Autotrader is usually the best place to look as most private and trade cars end up on there. Decide what colour, body style, wheels, interior etc. you're looking for and what condition/mileage you'd accept and how much you want to pay and then start watching and waiting ;)

Hopefully the statistics give you an idea of which combination of colours/spec you're likely to find but if you have any specific questions the please feel free to post here. I've got details of over 90% of the cars registered in the UK so should be able to help.

Sure what do you want to know?

As above post your questions here and a few of us long term owners will give you answers.

We're a friendly bunch

Thanks for that, I will keep an eye out on their site, I have seen from my google searches they seem to have a few, just haven't found the right one.

Thanks Phil, i've been checking on there went to see a black car over the weekend and I think it has to be either that or white coupe, I'm looking for a 1 or 2 owner car car with low miles, was ideally hoping to bypass the dealer and hopefully buy directly from a long term owner who I can speak to and get a feel for how they have used and looked after the car.

What are the things to be paying attention too when looking at them? From my research their doesn't appear to be any major items that go too wrong but I'm sure you guys can put me straight on that!

Yex / Rocky,

what are the key things i should be looking out for when looking over these cars? any warning signs or key things to look out for?

i'm after a well maintained and looked after car as its one I intend to use and keep for a long time, while its still acceptable of course 😂

Sorry VJ, laptop issues led me to be offline for a short period.

When I bought my 507 I was lucky to find one that ticked all my boxes after a little searching and walking away.. The previous owners ( 2 before me) had the car serviced at Main Dealers, with the exception of the service before I purchased the car which was done at an after market specialist and included a complete brake disc and pad replacement as they were noted as "slightly worn" at the previous service. To me that shows the owner is aware of how much these cars cost to run and was happy to have the work done before it got to a point where it really needed doing - an approach I take to all my cars.

The dealer selling the car listened to my request to see and hear the car start from stone cold and it was indeed bloody cold at 8:30 on a Saturday morning when I first saw it and it fired up without any hint of a rattle. There are quite a few threads on here about M156 engines and how some rattles are OK as they go away very quickly once oil is circulated, whilst others are rattles that continue when the engine is up to temperature. These are the expensive ones that probably require the lifters to be replaced and should be factored into the purchase price if the rest of the car ticks your boxes. I also check the tyres on any car I am looking to, with a specific interest in seeing top quality rubber on all 4 wheels and at a minimum matched across axles - mine had 4 almost new Yoko's on it that turned out to be a very good tyre. Any sign of ditch finders or mismatched tyres I just walk away

The inside of the car can be a bit tell tale as well regarding how the current owner has looked after it so if there are any obvious signs of wear that haven't been addressed dig a little deeper to see if anything has been covered up, we all get a bit misty eyed when looking at something we really want.

The real acid test if is the seller/dealer will let you take the car for an inspection should you want to do this. Any hesitation or nervousness should be noted, and as a good 507 appears to be £40K these days I would want an inspection if I wasn't buying from a decent dealer.

Happy to answer specific questions if I can about ownership etc. :thumb:

Yex not a problem, and thanks very much for your detailed response! Reading this makes me glad I walked away from the car I saw a couple of weeks ago, the things that put me off proceeding was the fact the engine was already warm before I arrived. I could feel the heat coming off it as I looked underneath the hood and the interior was very poorly presented. It was due a B Service and on the last service the brakes were suggested to be replaced both front and rear pads and discs. The combination of all of these things put me off, so the search continues, I will make sure any future cars I visit I will make sure to request the engine being cold.

That said there was no baulking at an inspection. I would never buy a car without one, would you recommend a main dealer to have a look at it if buying privately?

@Yex has already highlighted the issue with the lifters. Other than that it is the usual stuff you'd look at when buying any car .... condition, service history and MOT history to see if it has had any previous failures that would suggest the car wasn't well looked after.
