That said there was no baulking at an inspection. I would never buy a car without one, would you recommend a main dealer to have a look at it if buying privately?
I would look to see if there was a decent specialist near to where the car was for sale. There are quite a few good ones spread around and there is a list on this site under one of the other forums which details them.

Indies are more pragmatic than main dealers I have found over the years when looking at cars ahead of a purchase, and tend to know more of the common areas of concerns for cars that are a generation or two old. Having said that my local main dealer looks after my servicing and I've never had an issue with them as my car is under a service plan and they have never pushed me for any work that I know doesn't need doing.

How much is it going for?

EDIT: Just seen an advert for it. £43,911.
That's the one, may well have misread the advert, it does say only one former keeper, so that would tie in with what @PhilLinda has recorded.

Thanks @Yex and all really for the helpful answers! I've got the info I need and I'm sure the right car will come along soon!

What’s your budget? Why specifically a ‘507’? For the extra money that 507’s are going for you could save quite a lot and go for a good ‘125 edition’.

Very good question, budget is £40k max for the right car. I hear you with the 125 and actually having a look around the 507 market I may well go down the 125 route and take that saving. The main reason for the 507 is I wanted a limited run, but useable c63 to go alongside my M3 CSL, to me the 507 is my ideal c63 in both looks and performance and I do like the individual touches that complete the car.

From what you've said it needs to be a 507 as the 125 Edition really is nothing special over a standard car. The better compromise is a Performance Pack Plus (PPP) car as you get the upgraded engine internals like in the 507.

Thanks Steve, will keep that in mind. I've only just started the search so happy to be patient, I saw over 10 absolute dog CSLs before I found one that was well looked after and even remotely as advertised. I suspect the ratio will be similar with the c63!

I did visit AMG HQ in Affalterbach and have to say it really increased the desire to own one!

The mechanicals are the same on the 507 and PPP, except the 507 is mapped for 507hp and the PPP is about 20hp less. That can be equalised with a remap as it's the same hardware. LSD is optional on both and if it doesn't have the OEM one a Quaife or Wavetrac can be fitted for circa £1,500 which is a good option for road use.

507 gets the plaque on the dash, vented bonnet, decals, black outer front grille, black DRLs, black wing mirrors, different AMG gearknob, full Dinamica wheel instead of half in the PPP and most importantly the 19" forged wheels. There are a small number of 507 cars without the Y spoke forged wheels but it's worth making sure it does have them as they're very hard to find now and were around £6k RRP when available to buy new.

The previous owner of my standard estate copied a lot of the 507 styling, plus a bit more like painting the roof black. I like it so I've continued the theme by adding genuine 507 gearknob, front grille and I found a set of the forged wheels. It won't be good enough for a purist who wants the real thing but it has the same performance as I also remapped it and added a Wavetrac differential.

Thanks @Steve84N that is a great summary on the differences and a reason why I think I will end up getting a 507. It's nice to see you can get there 90% of the way though your estate is stunning!! We had a 230 TE Estate back in the day and did a family trip up to Scotland, obviously nothing like a modern 507 but still remember that car very fondly!

Yes looks like the aftermarket LSDs are better then factory so I don't see the point in trying to find a car with one on as I'll probably just fit the aftermarket one anyway. @Yex write up on the Quaife option makes it very compelling mod.

Nice! E46 CSL is a dream car of mine 😍 I think the 2 car combo with the 507 would be like the definitive road and track experience 😎

Certainly my thoughts @Goldeneye ! The hunt for the right 507 continues...

Lol same here mate, are you after a specific body type in particular? Crossing my fingers for the right saloon or estate to come along, this ones going to be a bit of a garage Queen for myself 😂

As mentioned earlier the 125 edition is a standard car with a badge that's the only difference 😅

With the 125 edition, was that name given to all new facelift C63’s back in 2011 and 2012 before the 507 editions came out?

No the 125 edition was for the lesser models something to do with the command online and the newer nav ,basically the infotainment system on the c63 its nothing just a badge as they came with the upgrade infotainment system as standard 🤔

Right so when the facelift came in 2011, there were…

1) Standard facelift models with no significant sub-name.
2) 125 Edition models, upgraded infotainment system
3) Black Series introduced in 2012
4) 507 Edition introduced 2012 through to discontinuation.

Right?

The standard facelift c63 AND the 125 edition IS the same car other than the badge there is no difference, why they did it ,i can't answer that
So the list is
Standard c63 facelift
C63 125 edition (same car)
C63 PPP
C63 507
C63 BLACK SERIES
as far as i can workout it was a gimmic for buyer's to think they had something special. Which isnt the case i did month's of research before i bought my 2nd car.I went with the PPP as i wanted something different to standard and didn't have the budget for a clean 507 🙄

I know you have the 125 edition, if im wrong i will except it.
Im sure someone will tell me if i am ?
