2012 E63 5.5TT Performance Pack Plus
Hi guys,

Been using the forum for some time but have now registered as I am about to make a C63 purchase.

I want an LSD on the car (looking at an 09/59 model). I know these came with the early performance packs or (so I am told) as a straight-forward cost option if the PP wasn't selected (is this true or was the MB dealer demonstrating a lack of knowledge?).

Anyhow. My only issue with the PP is the brake upgrade - I will be paying £650-750 per disc if they are shot.

So my ideal solution is to get a non-PP and have a Quaife/similar LSD fitted.

I have been trawling for someone decent to have an LSD fitted but, so far, no one has filled me with any confidence.

Does anyone know of any garage/tuners etc that could put one on? (Manchester-ish area).

Also... (sorry for all the questions) If I did opt for a PP car, does anyone know any reasonable way of replacing the composite discs for not silly money (if it were to occur)?

Many thanks

Welcome, we have many owners on here...one will be along to answer.

Olly from pcs was selling a lsd for a c63 buy a ppplus car 10 reg onwards if you can.

i think the LSD is an option even if you have ppp, seen them for sale with ppp without LSD

Correct.

cant believe they dont come as standard on any c63

Give Loz a shout at PartsMeister.net and tell him Adam gave you his details, he doesn't list Merc parts on his site but he can usually get his hands on anything :)

Cheers for the responses guys.

I can only get a MY2010 onwards if I get one with higher mileage which I want to avoid for resale purposes.

I have just had my first confirmation of someone actually willing to do the work (Birds Autos) and are around £2K fitted (Quaife).

Still umming/arring but it may just be a whole lot less fcking about if I just get a Performance Pack and deal with the brakes!

I am so surprised at the number of traders trying to sell these as 'AMG Performance Pack' when they are not (no alcantara steering wheel). Gits!

That would be ideal. PP and Harman Kardon are my only real core requirements.

Only one small prob though, I am doing it on a PCP deal and as such, needs to come from a 'dealer'.

Perhaps if you are some kind of 'dealer' it may be OK ;-)

IIRC only Birds are authorised Quaife resellers in the UK

Doing a little more digging... it appears that the PP composite floating discs can be changed for the normal steel rotors, if you feel the need. I don't intend on doing any track work and as such, don't really see the benefit of having such a costly item on the agenda.

Is it sacrilege to change to normal discs?

I suppose on one hand it would be a marketable prospect to the next owner - not having to change £2,000 brakes every 20k. But on the other hand I may get annihilated for doing it!

I can't help it!

But OK.

I need to also buy a stethoscope to magnify the sound of that lovely 'little' 6.2...
