C63 AMG Build Date...whoop whoop!

Just a week after placing my order, I now have a confirmed build date of the 30th March!

As I have gone for the factory collection option, does anyone know how much longer after that date I can expect to wait before I am able to collect it?

How have you been given such an accurate date? My guy told me somewhere between beginning and end of February for build date and i still dont know if they have started yet

My car does have a production number so do you think that means it will soon start being built?

I was told that completion would be beginning of March sometime

Usually within a week after build date (it was in my case).

if they have the number, they have the build schedule. What they won't have is a confirmed delivery date, but they will have an expect date.

the dates will be on the screen that they read the production number from.

I just know it is going to coincide with a business trip to the US, so I have pulled the factory collection and have arranged to have it sent to the dealership

Not too sad, as collection was scheduled from Bremen, which is nowhere near where I wanted to be i.e. Nurburgring and Affalterbach.

So looking forward to a "normal" delivery some time around mid-March.

Anyone have any GPS-based Tracker recommendations?

Mmm...it does make me wonder but the dealer has said they will try and get it before - I reckon the date quoted is probably the latest date and is a worst case scenario.

However, the small thing of a new 'first year tax rate' of nearly a grand has been brought to my attention if the car is registered after the 1st April - I forgot about that and the dealer has mentioned nothing about it. I guess thats another call to them to make sure I get it registered before 1st April!

I am!! Which was why I was a little perturbed to hear the collection was in Bremen!!

I could, of course, have had the car shipped to Stuttgart for collection! At my cost!! No thanks....

There is some confusion at the moment about the delivery date. It says " Delivered to" and then a date, but no destination... So the feeling is that it is going to take a few more days to actually get it to the UK after that. The confusion probably stems from my Factory Collection spec.

your dates have an "expected to dealer deliervy date" as well as an earliest possible delivery date. If they are both the same, the car is on a transport schedule. If they are different, then your car will be delivered to the UK, then will be sent on to your dealer via however they get them. So if they don't get a load of AMG's it gets its own vehicle transportation.

once at your dealer, they can't register it until certain paperwork arrives from MB. Best ensure your dealer orders that so it arrives along with your car.

my paperwork beat the car, due to the car having to go to the UK first. However, the paperwork then took 4 days, on an island you can walk round in 8hrs, and not a huge amount of new car sales to deal with, before being registered.

that's what happens when you don't have to pay VAT, new car tax, road fund license etc.

i ordered my car in October and asked for factory collection
Was advised in Dec that build date was 6 feb with collection approx 10 days later.
got phone call on 1 feb to say car was ready and when would i like to pick it up. arranged for 17 back to dealers on 22 to be reg and picked up on 1 march
Really impressed been good so far!!

Right, my build date must be way before the 31st March as my dealer has assured me the car will be registered in the UK before the 31st and will therefore avoid the new car tax that is coming in from 1st April.

Thank goodness for that!

I saw a fab looking C63 today, with my choice of the 19"alloys upgrade too. Best of all though was the reg plate - C63 AMG. As it was just round the corner from my dealer, I wondered whether it might be a demo plate unless the owner of it got lucky.

That is weird that it is Bremen. I thought all C63's were built in Stuttgart. You are getting the Estate correct? I had heard rumours they have moved the build of those to Bremen.
