C63 AMG Build Date...whoop whoop!

in my 30's :D

Blimey - we're all youngsters! I too am in my very very early 30's so it seems the C63 is hitting its target market with all of us!

I had a CL55 when I was 25, and a CL65 when I was 26, but now I'm 30 I need a family car hence the C63 :D

Now Maff....you have done well for yourself! Your 'fleet' is very impressive; the cars you've owned, currently own and have on order are all class...I can only dream of having your choice of cars when I step out of my front door for the daily grind! Well done and enjoy :thumb:

BTW - the CL65...was it the latest shape and what was it like?

Thanks :)
The CL65 was the old shape, but still made me smile, and was the 'current' shape when I bought it.

I've just impulse bought a rather special rare car today which I'll post about later, looking forward to collecting it :D ;)

Right, I need you guys to check a few things when you get your new cars.

well one thing, the rear tyre depth when new?

I have checked mine and its about 3.5mm. it has only done 2800miles.

that might suggest the new tryes are only 5mm when new.

if they are 8 or 9mm when new.....I think I will walk to a work a few times.

the fronts are about 6.5 to 7mm.

will do...i didnt think they would put 5mm depth on road cars?! They have been talking about very quick tyre wear on the American forums.

As an update regarding the delays, I've been told today that the sales manager of my dealer has spoken to head of MBUK and there are no issues with my build.

I'll update when I have more details.

My rear ones lasted 6000 miles, I did read somewhere that the standard ones are really soft and go quite quickly more so if you burn rubber a lot!!!

I also remember the top gear test with the RS4 and M3 in spain they wore them down within about 100 miles... or was it less???

Mark.

6mm in 2800miles tho:eek:

can't be. I drive sedate I do.:wallbash:

a 5mm tyre depth would be eaten in about 5 or 6000miles which equates to about 9 or 10,000 ish with the full 8 or 9mm. which would be about right for a car like this.

and it would explain why people think they wear out quick.

that said, if they are really going that quick, I will be changing them for a different type thats for sure.

The tyres DO wear out that quickly; my current one had done 5k miles and the inside edges of the rear tyres were down to canvas. The tyres also don't wear evenly thanks to the heavy camber on the car.

My car has Yokohama's fitted from the factory - Scumbag, yours are Continentals aren't they?

I think all brands are going to be very similar on this car

I think they are Pirrellis.

must check to be honest.

I think a harder compound will help. I got 9000miles out of Conti's ona car that I only really gave some hammer to most of the time. the additional 300kg here should not reduce the life that much. So I guess they are too soft.

I must say i thought standard tyre on the C63 Saloon was the pirelli zeros. But then maybe it is what they have in stock at the time of build.

Fast cars eat tyres. I'd be happy to get 6K on a C63..

Cost of doing business.

yeah, but I am looking at 3k!

pirelli p zero's it says on it.

Will probably give a different make a go next time. Conti's and Dunlops both come with MO versions.

The car needed 1ltr of oil at 2500miles. the previous AMG I had also needed 1ltr around this time and no more during the next 7000miles so i guess it is about right.

still can't see it eating tyres as fast as it would appear to be!

Well good news, according to the MB computer system my C63 started life today on the production line, with a ready for collection date of next Tuesday.

Fingers crossed! :D :D

Mine has a Confirmed Completion Date of 11th March. Delivery to dealers on 23rd March.

bet youre excited.

Trying not to think about it. Typically I'll be out of the country when it's due to arrive :wallbash:
