C63 amg
Hi Guys 1 week to go till I pick up my C63 amg coupe 125 edition 2012 plate, having never driven the car or seen it till collection im looking for your top tips for the car. ie FUEL type to use/COMAND useage-settings/DRIVING MODE/ anything really you think are cool about the car. And little tips that will save me time reading the manual on collection of the car as I need to be at MSL 3 hours later for the first of my mods
(re-map/LSD/decat).:bannana:
Thanks for all the help!!

Thanks for all the help!!

This seems a little wild to me, you've never driven the car or even seen it before you pick it up?

That said, you will not be disappointed by it, especially after a trip to MSL. I'd recommend gutting the secondary cats, fitting a Quaife LSD and getting a Eurocharged remap, this way, the car will sound amazing, you'll be able to get all the power down, and you should have around 525 BHP too.

I always run mine on either Tesco Momentum 99 octane or Shell V power 98 octane fuel - the manual says use 98 octane or above.

I leave my comand in Nav mode most of the time for a moving map of where I am.

I usually leave my gearbox in C mode whilst driving, in this setting, it sets off in 2nd and changes up the gears quickly.

Just fill it with fuel and get out and enjoy it. :thumb:

I picked mine up having never driven it. It kinda added to the exitement. I only run mine on momentum or v power also. My secondary's are gutted and cars mapped. I wouldn't say gutting the cats makes a massive difference but enough to make the standard growl a little bit more noticeable.

Car will obviously sound better in s+ mode or m mode on downshifts. I tend to drive mine in m mode most of the time. First thing I done with command is change colour to night mode ( black screen ) can't stand the yellow.

Slightly counter-intuitive to modify the car, without first familiarising yourself with it in stock form...:dk: But hey ho, it's your money...

OK, I will say it - you are buying a car without ever seeing it in the flesh? Are you insane? You are asking to be shafted, especially if it is a Mercedes dealer.

You need to be looking at lots of things in person before you hand over the cash.
- Service History, demand a print out.
- Bodywork damage and repair
- Wheel damage and tyre wear
- Seat wear

The list goes on, I really hope it is a good one, many are not.

Fair play for the enthusiasm, but as others have said get used to the car first and then you can appreciate it more.
Saying that the LSD will make a big difference..... and the map will, but not as noticeable on a 125 edition as they are already 480BHP (If i remember correctly).

Anyway, once you get to MSL and have the chicken lunch you will be ordering a Supercharger.....don't resist its pointless.

Fair play for driving straight to MSL

It's something I would consider if picking up a
Car across the water due to lack of companies locally who can show such expertise

I'm the reverse to this - I can't get out of C quick enough - it's too lethargic for a performance car.

Totally agree. Fine for some local pootling and letting the car warm up but nothing else!

Personally I think it is very rushed decision to not only have viewed or test driven the car and you want to go to MSL within 3 hours of having it. Get used to the car first and you will appreciate more the additional changes MSL will do for your vehicle. That is my opinion.

Also if there is anything wrong with the car, you kind of VOID your warranty to begin with...
I would want to make sure it drives well first before any mods.

Having said this, you have already made your decision so there is not much of a tip here.

Totally agree with nico2014, drive it for a couple of months, get to know the car then let Acid at it

although it seems crazy buying a car without test drive and viewing, i can see the OP's point regarding mods, i contemplated swinging by msl on the way home from purchase as i picked the car up in southampton and was driving past back to scotland so wasn't going to be in the area again anytime soon.

Thanks for all the help!!

Very brave to be buying a car without seeing or driving the car or its type at all.....
Kudos to you.

I just got mine and still getting used to the hike in bhp seeing i came from a C180K.
Will be adding Quaiffe LSD soon as its a bit twitchy and loads of power lost whilst coming out of corners... hoping that the LSD will make it more planted.
Other that that, be prepared to be your local Shell's best mate.... or VIP card holder.

Thanks for all the info, my friend who stays in Essex viewed the car for me and apart from 3 stone chips it's mint. Comes with an independent warranty and also has a Mercedes's warranty for 9 months. But hey if you guys all rant about them then I'm sure it will be ace to drive. As for the mods I've had m5/6/3 all tuned etc so kind of addicted to more power, and listening to all you guys praise msl I thought well driving Essex to Glasgow I could stop off and get the tuning done and kill two birds with one stone!!.

I wouldnt be too harsh on the op for not seeing before buying as I did the same knowing that I had option to refuse the car if it wasnt as advertised, 30 day money back etc...
I bought mine from mb Birmingham and had planned to drop in on msl on the way back but took the advice of settling in first. I am glad I have however, I cant wait to have the secondary cats done as I do need just a bit more volume in my life.
As per lee63 are edition 125 480hp?

Thanks airbusdriver... some people think you are insane because you do things not to there liking or not the way they would do things, but the car is at the other side of the country and due to job commitments working offshore etc this is the only way I can buy it. But as you say if I go down and its a pig I will not take it away and all I have lost is a cheap flight to london. The garage is a well known garage in Essex with great feedback and loads of 100k plus cars etc so I am not to worried.

Other than checking the car out when I arrive the AA do not do car checks on AMG vechicles, anyone know a good mechanic or AMG specialist near Essex who fancys some beer money? ha ha. The garage has had an independant mechanic check the car and said it is spot on.:dk:

If it has a warranty I wouldn't worry too much about getting it checked, just let Acid and his team do it when you stop off. Fair point killing 2 birds with one stone.

However, once you have seen the set up at MSL and see what goes on there, I am sure you will be taking the drive down at either a weekend or during the week for either a organized or spur of the moment meet....the last mid week one we had Pete (V8 pete) drive from Denmark to have a Re-map and cat delete.....and obviously a good laugh and a few beers on the night.

I am sure you will love the car and be grinning all the way back to Glasgow (if your staying over at MSL the Jurys Inn is a good place)

Edition 125 is 457 bhp only unfortunately .

davidcarr1980-I have an Indie that I use and trust on my cars and is very good and has a genuine passion for the cars too . He is based in Romford ,Galows corner ,and I'm sure he can check your car over for you as he did mine when I purchased it .His name is Victor and his number is 01708-344-199 if you need a quick check , but as has been said earlier, if it has warranty you'll be fine . Saying that a quick check at another mechanic might make you feel more comfortable and avoid the stress of returning it for repairs ,if needed , but I'm sure the car will be spot on at that age.

I have also recently gone from standard to tune ,to a remap and pipes at MSLs and the difference is like night and day and most enjoyable . Acid has a very nice exchaust there ready to be fitted . If you can afford it ,just buy it ;) . The car is much better now . You will ,with out a doubt , enjoy it 100% .

What change did you make to the exhaust? Regular 4.30am starts mean that I cant go too ASBO but I would like a bit more noise, hence secondary cat route. Is there a way to code the map to get more bangs/crackles on the over run something like porsche have done with cayman/boxster gts exhaust noise?
