Whilst i was driving in Italy my car starting making this funny clicking noise whilst i was coasting at speeds around 20mph. Took it to an Italian MB and they told me it was the control arm and it was safe to drive back to England.

Anyway i did, got the car into a Mercedes near a certain large airport in the west of London. Anyway road tested it and they even had a look.... They said its fine... My car was booked in on the 17th with them as i complained to MB Customer Service (who are useless) about the camshaft issue a few members on here have experienced. My car was in with them for over 5 weeks and all they replaced was the cam solenoid.

Anyway they called me last Tuesday and said no noise from the cams we cant hear it, even though i have video recordings from when the car is started.
They also said that they couldnt find anything wrong with the control arms. I told them to go back and look at the car and do the following. Push down on the engine where the signed plaque is quite hard and that recreates the noise. Two hours later he calls me back and tells me they just found the problem and its the torque arms!!!

WTF!!!?!?!?!? Are these guys clueless when they were checking the car over... Why do i have to tell MB techs to do their job??? Currently writing to MB UK about this as the customer service are beyond useless. With regards to the cams, they have written to me to tell me they think its ok so if the engine dies etc i will go back to them and say i told you so....

i dont know if anyone remembers my posts about the Michelin Pilot PSS and feeling airy when driving... Well now with the new torque arms, this feeling has completely gone away, and feels a lot more solid.... Apparently there is a service bulliten with this info for the c class replacement of torque arms, so get to the the dealer if you are having the same issues.

This whole sage has really put me of the AMG brand and kind of annoyed me.... Look forward to anyones thoughts.

all dealers are the same
they all hate warranty work and seem to be content to fob people off with exuses.these dealers all know about the tech/service recall bulletins but hate having to comply

i had a vauxhall calibra turbo and the *******s knew about an issue with cam belt plastic tensioners failing with obv disasterous results but only told dealers to check when cars have a service..mine failed and took out the whole top end and i had to fight tooth and nail for help and even then they only paid partial cost after watchdog highlighted the common fault

you wld expect more from mb but they probably put the trainee on the bread and butter jobs
totally unacceptable for the customer to be telling the supposed tech expert how to check a fault esp after telling them which part to check

My dealer likes warranty work as they get paid by MB

My previous 6.2 had £4.8k worth of engine work. The service manager was well pleased.

I thought dealers like warranty work as they get reasonably well paid and can claim full price for parts.

What year is your car?

During my ownership of a MB I've found there customer service, dealer service and warranty department the absolute worst I have ever experienced and can't express my disappointment strongly enough. I also deal with mercedes at commercial level with my employer and have not found them any better. I also feel that the product is reflecting the customer service.
For the above, I will now be returning to the BMW marque and before anyone starts about the sound of an AMG (which I do think is the best out of the box) I'm happy to stump up the extra money for a new exhaust so I don't have to deal with incompertance of Mercedes.

Its a 2013.... Yeah i am in the middle of writing a letter to them as i cant talk over the phone at them without loosing my marbles so i will ask for compensation for the 5 weeks its been in there!
