C63 AMG W205 99 Octane Fuel

Hi all,

I have a question around 99 octane fuel and just fuel in general.

Might sound silly but is it okay to put 99 octane fuel in? The filler cap recommends 98 as a max. Does anything higher cause any pre ignition?

I don't want to put in a full tank of E10 95 octane.. Is it an idea to mix fuels?

Any guidance is really appreciated.

It's what I've used in my E63 Biturbo for the past 2.5 years.

98 RON is minimum recommended, not maximum! It’s safe to use 95 RON in an emergency as a short term measure. With octane rating, if in doubt higher is always safer, and lower is always riskier.

Haaroon, avoid E10 95. Most Super Unleaded is 97 (Gulf, BP, Texaco and supermarkets). Otherwise 99 comes from Shell, Esso and Tesco.

Yeah Tesco momentum and every now and then Shell.

The higher the octane the more a fuel can be compressed before it will ignite meaning you can have more advance in the ignition timing. Also means the higher the octane the less chance of pre ignition there is. Basically the higher the better
