Is there a viable non-droney option to C63 backboxes? And if not, what do a pair cost second hand?

    Thanks.

CLS63 219 boxes on the E55 are very good if you can find them and fit in the space available being designed for the same chassis. You will need to re-angle the tail pipes.

After all you've done to it, you let someone else do the brake hoses? Mutiny. Mutiny on the Brutus!

Lol, It requires Star to bleed the system which you would have to do if doing all 4, Also if anything does go wrong id rather it be stuck at a Mb Specialist than my Garage Rotfl:D

There are just some things that are best left to peeps who "should" lol know what there doing.

W211 E63 back boxes on an E55k sound pretty amazing. Very very similar to the C63 sound - not too brash at tickover, but a proper Nascar note when you put your boot down.

Sadly I've just had to take mine off and replace them with the original E55 back boxes as She Who Must Be Obeyed put her foot down about my childish noisy car :(

Open to offers for them if anyone is interested - say £200 the pair?

I'll take them at that price. Whereabouts are you based?

totally different boxes E63 ones, still muted compared to the C63 back boxes.

    £200 is a good price tho :)

Hmm might not be worth the hassle for the change in tone. I currently have gutted stock E55 boxes so it's already loud. Just wondering if the change in tone is worth it... probably not.

What specialist do you use mate? I'm just down the road from you. Haven't needed one yet, but always good to have a recommended one just in case.

I'm in Surrey, just outside Guildford.

They do sound pretty good to be honest. They're from a W211 E63. The stock ones that I have just put back on are very very muted in comparison. Let me know if you are interested (email in profile), else they'll be heading towards ebay next week. Funds for new rear tyres needed (I fear this may be a regular occurrence!)

So any other alternatives? I can't justify the cost of C63 boxes at the moment as they will need modifying and cls63 boxes seem hard to come by. If E63 boxes aren't going to make my v8 sound more like a V8 then they are out too.

CLS55 back boxes or just open up your E55 boxes? How much would you pay for C63 boxes?

The cheapest set are 405 quid but look like they may not have a lot of life left. I need to avoid drone due to my hyperacusis and muffler deletes in my experience are a bit droney.

What do you mean by 'may not have a lot of life left'? It's a welded box, filled with heat resistant sound insulation & wire wool. Hardly anything harmful or destructive can possibly happen to it.
