Does really seem worth it the more I think about it.

When you say protects against damage, what do you mean by damage, or do you mean damage from bird droppings?
Bird droppings and other contaminants sit on the surface of the coating and simply wipe off without doing damage even after say a week without being touched. You can quick wash the car, take it for a fast run without drying and it still looks good, it returns the paintwork to its original showroom finish and keeps it like it for at least 5 years, seemed worth it to me but depends on how much you paid for your car, pretty pointless on a cheap car....

At least 5 years eh, that changes it a bit then.
Do you still put polish/wax on the car as you normally would, or is there no need to do that anymore?

No need it actually creates a sealed layer over the surface so all you need do is wash.

Be careful as some coatings are better than others, I had a cheap one (Supaguard) applied to my first Range Rover and it only lasted 6 months, I am guessing it was badly applied and poor product. The coating on the SL was Gtechniq Liquid crystal, seems a lot more robust but it was applied by F1 Wax detailing who really seem to know their stuff and specialise in Supercars (see link below).

Mine should last for 2 years. Longer was more expensive and doubt I will have the car after 2 years. As said the preparation which is what you are really paying the money for and sorts minor paint imperfections.

As I said mine had been machine polished badly by merc and looked super shiny but when the sun hit it you could see the polishing swirls.

Paints all good now, and is a lot easier to clean. Clean normally and wipe over with a quick detailer is what was recommended to me and does look fab after doing this.

That's shocking, but at least it's sorted now. How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking

This is my choice of stuff (Gtechniq) it's good stuff.

That has to be the best colour I've seen on a C63.

I'm getting paint correction, then Gtechniq crystal serum light and exo.
As the company doing it are Gtechniq accredited, i'm told I get a 5 year guarantee with that too.
Will post up results next weekend, having seen some cars they were working on, the colour of my car should look great with the coating applied.

Good choice, look forward to seeing your pics! Mine was done nearly 2 years ago and not been polished since.

The guy told me, once done I'm only allowed to wash and dry the car, definitely no polishing. He can freshen up the cost whenever he thinks it needs it. Yearly check up required forvthe guarantee which is FOC

My C Class was detailed using Gtechniq and the Guarantee was 7 Years, I had me E Class done at the same place and as the Gtechniq Liquid is a different mix,the guarantee is now 9 Years! :D
