Hi Guys,

Depending which forum, who you speak to, the answer seems to differ.
I have a C63, late 2013.
I would like to do an oil and filter change, just becuse I like too even though its also serviced by MB.

What oil and quantity do I use.
I have seen so many different types, ratings etc, the mind boggles! :fail

I believe it takes 8.5 litres
Mb spec 229.5 5w40
Do not put 0w40 in it

Buy the oil from mb

Found some on eBay but doesnt specify the rating, have asked them the question.

Yeah they just replied that its 5W40 and its a MB dealer.

I expect its Petronas fully synthetic as MB seem to be promoting this brand through F1. I've got 8.5lt of Petronas 5w-40 in my sump last service and all is well.

Yep it is petronas.

Every where local to me use mobil 1 0w 40 and that's what the manual recommends.

I contacted MBUK about the correct oil for my last car - M156 6.2 NA.

They told me to use 229.5 spec.

The 0-40 or 5-40 debate rumbles on, but the 229.5 recommendation remains constant.

If it says 229.5 it's ok.

Is that 229.51 with specific emphasis on the 1 at the end

The 1 on the end is low-ash for diesel cars equipped with DPF.

Generally speaking 229.51 oils can also be used in petrol engines, ie they are not limited to diesels, but when it comes to AMG engines it is probably best to be strict and just opt for 229.5 and not 229.51.
