I recently visited a non-MB focussed tuner for a dyno session. They are predominantly FWD and Haldex specialists but, they have dyno'd many cars.

I put my Eurocharged Coupe on their dyno and they seemed pretty clueless about the correct setting to place it in, first of all having no idea how to engage Dyno Mode and secondly choosing not to use manual mode.

Regardless I guess it doesn't matter as they couldn't get it to hook up at all. As soon as the car reached the mid-range and upwards where the Eurocharged tune really allows it to start moving it would blow the tyres off on the dyno and if held long enough, up-change gear.
They had a few goes but gave up, with the strongest run only making it to 5700rpm before they let off as it spun the wheels. I'm not sure whether to be pleased or not as at 5700rpm it recorded a very stock 460hp at the crank, the same as it made stock (pre-Eurocharged) at another shop at around 6800rpm where it never wheel spun.

I think I'll give up with this place, i thought I'd get a fairly true before/after result since both places have Maha dynometers but, any tips to stop it spinning should it occur again? I suppose I really shouldn't have to tell the operator how to do his job anyway.

Alas, I have no idea whether the Eurocharging has seen me any gains, albeit it's certainly a beast on the "butt dyno".

Take it to a place where they use a hub dyno

Keep it away from them before they cause a major problem for you and take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

It sounds like their dyno isn't suitable for much more than 4 - 500bhp.

ETA: Whereabouts are you based? There are lots about, including Eurocharged themselves.

Sounds like the Dyno operator is "mikey mouse outfit" I havehad mine on a few different ones and when the operator was unsure how to put it in Dyno mode we just googled it.

If you have a eurocharged map on a stock car I.e. 457 BHP you should definitely feel the difference on your "butt Dyno"

Bring it to me :)

If they are the lower end MAHA units they are smooth rollers which slip on high powered cars. The higher end MAHA units have knurled rollers and likely to be single roller units.

Twin roller setups are fine with knurled rollers and a decent load control system.

MSL in Birmingham can run this no problem on the Dynojet setup.

Thanks all and MSL. I'm located in Surrey so locally I have Rebellion, Eurocharged or MSL for a little road trip.

The rollers were smooth as far as I could see. The car sounded epic and drew a crowd who were impressed even with a dyno plot that looked like a child's scribbles, I'll give it that but it disappointed me.

On the road it's totally clear that the tune has changed the car, it just goes and goes.

It's actually a very well renowned tuner in the RS Audi world which is why I placed confidence in their abilities to dyno it but, it was embarrassing.

Anyway, what's done is done and at least at 2/3 it's making standard power so, more than healthy it seems. In the Summer I plan to book you, MSL as I would like to also have you remove my secondary Cats :).
