Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well....

I am thinking of doing two things to my C63:

1. Cat Delete

and

2. ECU Upgrade

I am thinking of going with DMS......... Its about £150 for Cat Delete and £1100 for ECU upgrade- they reckon they can get it to 520 horse.

I was also thinking of air filters but they said waste of time?

Any feedback on DMS?? and Pricing??

BTW- Whens the next AMG Meet at Bluewater?? :)

Thanks

Paresh

DMS told me they also remap the gearbox software to that of the CLK Black Series.

Does your car have the Performance Pack Plus?

speak to benjy --- if you have the ppp pack then you can get to about 520bhp with £650 i think but best to speak the benjy

Has anyone here had much experience with DMS?, I was thinking about using them for a remap on my E55K when I get it back from the bodyshop, although I did think their claims of 540 BHP with just a remap were a bit strong?.

I don't see any reason why a C63 couldn't be 520 BHP with those mods though, it's not like a 6.2 V8 making 450 is working particularly hard and the same engine in other models is over 500, I'm not that sure but I thought maybe it was just detuned slightly with the ECU rather than any differences in the actual engine compared to say a CL or E63 for example?.

Palmball had the Brabus ECU fitted to his car, but it went from something like 503bhp to 511bhp so he got a refund. The PPP is supposedly a conservative estimate at 487.

As said above, Palmball can advise more on this but from what I know, headers will give you even more power and a louder sound. As for the ECU, as long as you don't have the P31 performance package you should go from 457hp to approx 520+. Plus even more torque. Your rear tires will hate you but you'll love it. Definately worth it!!! :)))

The car will never have the same potential as the larger '63 engined AMG's for a couple of reasons....breathing, heat and the exhaust. The E, CL, SL etc have much large engine bays so simply have more effective intake and exhaust design and also are better at dissipating the heat - it's this final point that can really restrict the C63.

It appears from my and others experience that 510-515bhp is easy with just a remap and you'll probably get to 530bhp with better manifolds and cats (the manifold design in particular is very restrictive and the cats are 700-cell jobbies so do restrict airflow somewhat). When I had my C63, the biggest performance difference I could feel was from the headers and race cats as it was much more accelerative and freer breathing than before. On the subject of cat removal, I would never remove the cats as that would likely cause you issues come MOT time...why risk the hassle when you can just get some race cats that do the same job?

On the subject of DMS, I've heard too many 'stories' to ever trust one of my cars with them (admittedly, largely by their competitors but similar stories from a wide variety of people nonetheless).

Personally, for modding a C63 in this country I'd check people like Steen at Kleeman. Kleeman know these cars inside out and specialise in getting more power out of AMG Mercs. It'll cost you more but then you own a C63 so I'd image a few hundred quid extra to go to the company that knows the car best is immaterial.

my mate is an mot tester and told me he sore some of the new rules coming in on a news letter or some thing like that and one of them is if a car comes with cats its a fail to remove them! so if you do id keep them for mot if they do bring that in

On Kleemann and ECU mods, would also recommend to read the US forums (mbworld.org in particular). They love those mods and a lot of people run cars with a Kleemann ECU flash.

On headers, there seems to be a limited choice for RHD cars. For LHD, people in the US quote up to 560hp with long tube headers (MHP in particular, i believe. Search for some clips on Youtube, they sound insane).

why not try olliy he those this also
