C63: P30 vs P31 (MY12)

I know this has been done to death, quite rightly so - it's confusing.. however, every thread i've read, and all comments .. either are contradictory, or work ton the basis that P31 is facelift, and P30 is pre-facelift. My situation seems to be different to those explanations i have found.

I'm mid purchase (deposit paid) on a 2012 car (build date 04/2012).

Running the VIN through vindecoderz.com, i clearly get (amongst a huge list):

P30 - AMG PERFORMANCE PACKAGE
471 - MECHANICAL LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL
U70 - BRAKE CALIPERS PAINTED RED
540 - ROLLER BLIND, ELECTRIC, FOR REAR WINDOW
923 - OUTPUT INCREASE OF ENGINES
U47 - REAR SPOILER

From everything i've read, a 2012 car should be P31?

I've spoken to Mercedes, and they've confirmed in 'OASIS' (though sadly cant send to me..?!) on the phone that it has options:

P30 - "Performance Pack Plus"
471 - AMG Differential Lock

So .. all evidence points to P30, except the fact people claim 2012 car should be P31? and i read somewhere that 'Performance Pack Plus' is P31?


So.. My question.. What exactly is the difference between P30 and P31, and which do i have? (Does this car have the uprated internals?) You pay a slight premium for a 487BHP car with LSD vs cars without, so I want to ensure i'm paying the right price.

And secondly, i guess.. is 471 - 'Differential Lock' (aka 'Mechanical Locking Differential' on vindecoderz) actually Merc speak for a LSD?!

the difference is supposed to be the red calipers, extra power and titanium paint on the intake manifold.

my 2010 ppp is noted as P30 on the original bill of sale so i guessed the P31 refers to the facelift but with yours being a facelift i guess its just a name change. If your car is 08/09 its the early version without the extra power and has silver calipers, from 2010 onwards its the extra power with the titanium intake.

yes it appears you also have the MB lsd.

Seems here people's opinions contradict with many examples of people's VIN decodes via mercedes - where are people getting this P31 idea from? None of the threads show P31 as a package on 2012 models:

This is correct the US models with Performance Pack Plus have P31 as the option we here have it as P30

I was using vin code for performance pack plus models when searching for mine and they all came up as P30 on all facelift vehicles.

The 417 mechanical differential was an option on the facelift and is MB LSD.

Thanks - this seems the most plausible explanation.

So for clarity - UK MY12 cars with P30, are PPP cars (known by P31 in the US, and often confused on many popular forums in the UK car community), with all the internals and uprated power.

Now i just need to go collect it and check it makes decent black lines :bannana:
