2013 Cayman & 2014 C63AMG & 2015 E63AMG estate
I've had my stock , 2014 , C63 two weeks now and I'm absolutely loving it , it's without doubt up there with the best cars I've owned ! (Just sold my GT-R with 665bhp, I have a 911 (996) turbo and have had a long list of M cars inc X6M, 2x M5's , M3, M135).

The only negatives are , it needs more power , more noise and a limited slip diff !

After spending ages on the phone with Paul at Eurocharged (who has been very patient and informative !) I took the first steps yesterday by visiting them and getting a handheld with V5 map . Andy took my stock file , sent it to USA and then in the evening very kindly came to my house and uploaded it . Fantastic service , I cannot rate Paul and Andy high enough , even though they are slightly more expensive than MHL , I'm glad I've chosen them to modify my car .

I haven't driven the car yet but I'll go out and get some 0-100 vbox runs over the next day or two .

Next choice is whether to do headers or just secondary cats with straight pipes , I'll do the LSD at the same time .

My goal is to have a car that is as quick as a stock F10 M5 ;)

Are you looking at the Quaife ATB diff, or a retrofit of the Merc option 471 salisbury diff (or something else)?

I pickup up a PPP 2013 car without a diff and am now looking around (agree that it needs one).

I've tracked cars with salisbury differentials, but never an ATB. Wondering what the main handling differences are between the two (understand that's a tough one to answer without knowing how the Merc unit if configured for power, coast, preload etc).

Look forward to seeing the vbox data. Enjoy!

Quaife diff mate , you really can't go wrong with them, budget £1,500 fitted

i started with a rear decat and map and my car has been at eurocharged ever since and is literally a different car

Yes those guys are great. Good fun and chat heading down there and Andy is a seriously talented mechanic IMO.

Quaife diff is a game changer although I had that done on a group buy at Birds who are also excellent

Ahh yeah, Paul is a lovely guy. Really is a great example of a guy that takes pride in his business and knows how to cater to his customers. Top man.

Thats great. The Eurocharged map really is fantastic!

Get a quaife, it really does transform the car. Wider rear tyres help too. Great on track too.

Having had a C63 without diff, then with Quaife and now with the AMG diff I can say this:

No diff: Car is perfectly usable without a diff unless you intend to go for big power. It is a fraction lacking on a launch but the electronic gubbins do a decent job of replication where the diff is missing.

AMG diff: Very good. No difference on the road over diff-less day to day but on a launch it's worth a few tenths here and there. Only downside of the AMG over the ATB diff is that it needs servicing at about 100K miles i think. On a wet junction you might feel the benefit too but I never had an issue without it. Upside of the AMG diff is that it is progressive and does not jump out and try to kill you.

Quaife: I think if you are looking to buy a diff just for the sake of having it then the Quaife is the way to go, for costs sake anyway. It's a sealed, no service unit and will never break too. As for its performance..... it can be a bit snatchy compared to the AMG diff but if you'll get used to it very quickly. If I were tracking regularly the car then I'd be inclined to go for the AMG diff, but if the 1/4 mile or traffic light GP are your thing then the Quaife would be my choice.

I have a V5 map on my current car and had the V4 on my last one. Both maps have been ace. On my PPP I ran 181mph at Vmax in April, vboxed at 7.8s 100-200kph and done sub 12s 1/4 on flat roads. The map really does convert these cars (figures will vary slightly to a non PPP but not by much) Ypur 0-100 runs will be mid to high 8's on good tyres I reckon.

I have a Remus system on my current car and am having a secondary cat delete done tomorrow. I'm also going to look into whether or not a map update will be needed for this.

Rumour has it that a V6 map will be released soon, supposedly with tweaked VVT settings for more top end power.

Hmm! Any idea when?

Decat done today. No need for a map update unless I get a CEL, which as yet I have not. It's slightly more aggressive to the ear but it's not mega noticeable over what I had with the Remus. VMax next year will tell me if there are any more usable horses.

My 2014 C63 went from 454 to 520 thanks to MSL. Really impressed with the result! I've managed to get a 3.9 0-60 out of it several times and many 4.0s dead all on dry flat roads. In the wet, forget it!

So far the sound has improved with more pops and bangs on the overrun etc, but I'm 50/50 as to whether to get the rear cats removed? the guys at MSL say it sounds amazing once you do it, but I'd like to see what others think? does it make a difference to the after sales? Reason I ask is that mine was one of the last 204s and has only done 9k miles. It's kept in beautiful condition and I'd hate to devalue the thing.

BTW, I was amazed to see that the F10 M5 was that much quicker than the c63. the torque on the C63 makes it hard to beat imo, but all vids I've seen so far show the M5 as wasting the C63! Very surprised!!

No doubt that the M5 is a quick car, with a conservative power rating from the factory (according to some of the M forums). Nice interior too.
Problem with it is that as an overall driving experience it's just a bit "dull" in comparison to any of the AMGs .

//M drivetrains are incredibly efficient.

I'd agree on excitement and it's even worse now that BMW are putting sound through the speakers! That's just appalling!! I'm always after that bit more from my cars, but this car puts a big smile on my face every time I get in it. And that sound! I just can't get enough!!

btw, has anyone jumped from a 204 to one of the new C63s and felt that it's better for overall enjoyment?

Hi. Noticed you had a X6m. What was that like to drive / owner ?

I have a Ml55, love it, but cant deny that Im looking at Ml63, or X5Ms.

Be interested to hear your thoughts.

Simon

Great write up and comparisons of the different setups
