Hi guys,

Most probably done to death I just couldn't get a definitive answer, my car needs a service B its 12 plate with 35k miles. Mercedes have quoted me wait for it.............£1067. seems a bit steep especially after a midlands based specialist with a presence on here said it would be £300ish. Am I missing something?

Should I argue with Mercedes to see if it makes a difference.

MSL - if you can help that would be great too!

Thanks,

i'm sure i was £522 and that was including and extra £175 for spark plugs! supply your own oil via the deal on here to save a further £90 or so! i bought 30ltrs of it! my last service a was £299 down from £420 with me supplying oil!

That's really helpful. Do you know where on here I can buy the oil from?

Have you owned the car for more than a year? The ATF should have been done last year although the ESS can be random for cars with low mileage.

If you're comparing prices make sure you're comparing the same scope of work - the indie price may well just be the basic B service, at that level it can't include plugs and ATF.

Ive had it about 11 months not sure if it was carried out last year i bought it from a merc dealer who told me it had been serviced and that was it....

I agree with what your saying about comparing scope of works across an indie and main dealer but does the above sound right? do they need to do all the above and is charging me £1,067 correct?

Did you call the dealer or get the price on line?

If you use MyService https://www.mymercedesservice.co.uk/home you can compare different dealers. Mine, MB Chester, part of the Inchcape group, is pretty good on older cars, but yours may not fall into that category yet. I've seen post saying MB Coventry are pretty good, but the difficulty I've found is getting hold of someone at the dealer who is interested enough and has the authority to discount the price.

If I buy the plan can I use it for this service? also what happens if I buy it on a direct debit but then 2 months down the line sell the car what happens then?

Yes it can be used straight away

They will charge you the difference between the normal service price and what you have have paid i think, but you can confirm with Mb.

Thanks for this. All the top 5 near where I live are quoting the same. I have rang the dealer to speak to someone but they havent bothered ringing back yet. Will suggest if i can buy the oil seperately and see how that impacts the price. I still cant believe this is how much the dealer expects to pay.

Seems as though there is only 1 left, you'll need 2x 5ltrs which will leave you with some for topping up throughout the year. Best contact them as i'd imagine they have more in stock and that the advert just needs updating. I'd buy 4x5ltrs as the deal might not last and you'll need more in 12 months anyway! (i bought 6 last time to do me 2yrs) keep the invoice for proof that it's from MB incase the dealer gets a bit sweaty with you.

there must be something extra that's bumping the price, my two were done at the main dealer with the first including spark plugs and i'm sure the 2nd was brake fluid. they charge about £120 for 8ltrs oil and you can buy 5ltrs for £16.99

Mine was due a "B2" service according to the dashboard, and I got a quote from the mercedes service site thing, and my locals were quoting £622.

That was apparently a B service + additional work of transmission fluid change + air filters.

I kicked off due to the overlap of the 3 months from purchase date promise (i.e. it wont need a service within the first 3 months of ownership), and they were very good and offered a 2 year service plan (£806 i believe), for half price.

I snapped their hand off, and that's that.

If I were you, I would ignore the quote. Buy a 2 year service care plan for £806 or whatever it is, and it will cover this £1000 service, plus next years service.

Job jobbed.

Best to buy your oil from mb Newcastle can get 10 litres for the price of 2 litres at other dealerships.
With spark plugs & labour mine came to 350 for b service fairly cheap I thought.

I still cant believe this is how much the dealer expects to pay.

There's certainly other posts suggesting a bil nudging £1000, so it's in the right ball-park.

I googled and found a 12 plate C63, turns out it's an April one - when I put it into MyService it doesn't matter what I do with the mileage it only asks for Service A and ATF and brake fluid change. Plugs never come up.

That's strange, it ought to be Service B and it should ask for plugs. It's still £635, so if you add the extra for Service B and for plugs, you're back at ~£1K.

Above car is 4yrs old.

So is OPs, so it's odd the ATF wasn't changed in his car last year. Maybe it was - I doubt MyService is smart enough to know.

It assumes that it was. Massive f up by mb imo
