Hey All ...

I've read the spec's of both a standard C63 with Performance pack and the new 507 model.

Seems they share many things (Brakes and SLS engine components).

The PP gives an additional 30 hp and the 507 has an extra 20 over PP.

My question is - what additional work was done to the 507 for the extra 20 hp?

any thoughts would be appreciated

Good question. A bit rich to charge £4-£5k for PPP then release 507 with even more power, not that you need it.

Hi,

I'm looking into a C63 at the moment.

The PPP is no longer available.

The 507 offers a fair but more than just the 20bhp addition.

Considering the PPP was £5k... for £10K (If money isn't too tight) you get a lot of extras...

Jim

I see that CKS offer the US ECU upgrade from 451bhp to 540bhp for about £899.
If thats true (and it appears to be) thats a far batter option for much for HP than 10K lol.

So for the additional £10k you get (not that this will be to everyone's liking I know):

Drivers Package - £2325.00
High Performance Braking System with Composite Front Brake Discs - £?
19" Cross Spoke Alloys - £1000+
Performance Plus... Plus Package (20bhp more) - £5000+ (not forgetting this isn't a remap only)

Other Stuff:
Black Series Bonnet - £?
AMG Boot Lid Spoiler - £?
Side Stripes - £? (Really don't know why they bothered)
Red Brake Callipers - £Halfords tin of paint
Black Gloss Door Mirrors - £?
Black Gloss Exterior parts in place of Chrome - £?
AMG Alcantara Steering Wheel - £?
AMG instrument cluster with red applications (?) - £?
AMG Stainless Steel / Dinamica Gear Shift - £?
Interior Black Gloss Trim & 507 Badging - £?

I've probably missed something.

I don't think paying £10k for that is for nothing, but I fully understand it boils down to whether the looks and in some cases lack of options is what someone wants.

Personally, I love the look of the 507, minus the damn stripes.

Looking online at broadspeed the 507 with the Solid Paint, DAB, LSD and HK5.1 - £58,600.00

C63 on broadspeed with same options plus 19" Alloys and lighting package - £51,400

£7,200 difference... now thats more like it.

Look at the eurocharged thread they were getting 536bhp...

Mine is the standard i.e 451BHP and Jerry mapped it too 536 on the MSL dyno day. The only mod i have apart from the map is the Carbinio intake system.
The only thing that seems to be an improvement with the ppp pack was the brakes. However the standard brakes seem fine.

I dare say the prestige of the old PPP or the new 507 is what you are paying for.

The PPP i came up against last week was most un impressed when i pulled past him and actually stopped me to ask what had been done :)

The Performance Pakage Plus used to include:
Engine upgrade
Composite Brakes with red calipers
Alcantara steering wheel
Carbon rear spoiler

The 507 is not bad value with the other goodies, but it is a run out model I feel - but I would happily have one and look forward to some members on here posting pics when they arrive.

Much better looking car than the DR520.

Well i have all but the breaks and the remap and carbon rear spoiler came in a lot cheaper than the ppp pack :-)

But i know what you are saying. I always planned to remap and play woth my car and thught the mony saved on the ppp would cover thise costs.

But what ever i do i will still "only" have a standard c63 albeit personilised to my spec/taste. You pays your money.

I will add i was very happy with the standard car and the breaks havent left me wanting and i do drive it pretty hard.

i would consider a map if i decide to keep the car after the agility deal. Just curious how much the improved BHP affects the fuel economy? Its quite a significant increase in power. My C63 currently returns about the same as my old C55 but as i don't use the car for commuting could go a bit more!
PS DC...so jealous of the 507, put up some pics when you get it and heres hoping better luck than you have had

Some of the above (calipers/alcantara) is PPP standard stuff and the 19 inch wheels look good but are a real, genuine pain in the **** on ultra low profile tyres with rock hard suspension.

It's a run off special at the end of the day and the marketing department sprinkled the last of their fairy dust on it.

Save 10k and get a good performance driving instructor who will make most people much faster, and safer: permanently.

Given the 507 is a recognised equipment package rather than just an optioned base car, does any member know if the lease deals on the 507 are more favourable than if you bought a c63 and optioned it up with PPP etc? It looks like a brilliant car for the money, I am still torn on whether a c63 is big enough for us or whether we need to go the larger e63 (with its better fuel economy too which cannot hurt)

Cheers
Simon

The fuel economy actually improved after the map, well that is if you can resist the urge to stamp on the loud pedal :D

I think the ride quality is superb on the 19"s. everyone who i have taken out in mine comments that its no too firm.

Do the coupes ride better?

My coupe rides great on 19"s and I have no issues with ride. I'd argue that it's the same if not better than my wife's new A220 CDI.

It's also a millions times softer than my previous 335d on 19"s which was appalling.

However 19s are always going to be a fairly harsh ride IMO
