C63s Powertrain control module recall

Hi,

I have a question on who did the below recall and whether it changed the car - for the better or worse. A bit cliché, but I am particularly keen to hear about any changes to the noise of the car.

Background:

I was having my C63s' 5th service at Mercedes yesterday and they ran into an issue when resetting the service interval - in short - it now reads that it is overdue by 6700 miles and this flashes on the dash each time I start the car.

There has been a recall to update the powertrain control module and it's purpose is to rectify this very issue by flashing an update to the control unit and syncing the mileage (this is what I gathered for the SA). Previously I have been asking them not to perform this recall as I wanted to keep the car as I bought it and they were no known side effects (apparently the overdue warning only flashes after the fifth service).

In any case, I decided to take the risk and requested they update it. Low and behold, the server to Germany went down and they couldn't perform the update (a sign... 🤔). I have rescheduled for next Wednesday, but am still considering whether to go ahead or not.

It is pre facelift 2018 C63s, stock ECU (no tune). UK based.

Thanks, Tom

I had this recall done in January this year during my C63S's most recent service. I had exactly the same worry as you and can happily confirm that there was no change in the noise of the car - i'd have been very very annoyed had that happened!

As far as I know, the update is purely for the item you mention and is entirely to do with the display logic.
