Hi all. my 85', 107, 500sl has a comprehensive merc specialist history from 1991.
She's now at 154k with excellent oil pressure.
However, I cannot see cam chain tensioner replacement in the bills?
Is it worth doing?
If so, how much would it be?

Also, should I be concerned with an oil leak, seen from underneath?
If so, are there common areas on the 500 to look for?

If its a single chain system you should be thinking of changing the chain, tensioner and possibly sprockets at that mileage. Even if it's been done once at say 70-80k you should be thinking of a second renewal now. Its a known weak spot on these engines. If its been in the hands of a specialist I'm surprised it hasn't been changed at least once.
