Hi All
Some advise needed,

I have a 2005 220CDI Chassis No: WDC2030082R195538 8
Engine No: 646963 30 394497
I have just started getting a very slight rattle as I am accelerating is this the CAM/Timing chain needing replacement, the car has done 104000 miles but I always thought the chains lasted the life of the engine but then I have also heard they should be changed after 100,000 miles.

If the chain needs replacing (hopefully the sprockets are ok)what sort of price should I expect to pay for the job to be done at a good indie garage.

From memory, and I'm sure it's in the handbook, Mercedes recommend changing the chain at 250,000.

That's interesting ZENMAN chain went and advice from the reply's to change them before 100,000 miles, are we talking about the same engine as mine
