Camcorders - Recommend a good one?

Looking to buy a good mid range camcorder for home/family and holiday use. Would like some basic editing functions Budget up to £500
Ive heard the Hard Drive units are pretty good and would like High Def as well.

Can anyone recommend a good unit?

Get one with a hard drive (I use a JVC model) but find one with a view finder, I find squinting at the screen in the sunlight useless for following action. (air shows etc.)
