Good people of the forum

Maybe you are able to help out in the hunt for a vehicle ...

The uncle of my daughter’s fiancé lost a leg a few years ago and is looking to buy a used campervan but with the caveat of being wheelchair accessible.

Any pointers ????

Mine is a Vito, with the easy in / out seat set up we remove one rear captain seat for wheelchair space.
The van remains totally dual purpose.
The bench 2+1 set up wouldn't allow for enough space unless the whole bench were to be removed.
I've installed four 'unwin' floor mounted wheelchair anchors that take the unwin straps and seat belt's'.

I've a ramp for the tailgate access and tailored a length of wood so the ramp stays secure by the lock hoop and the ramps sits on and is hooked onto the wood.

I believe Unwin also make clip in anchors for the seat rails that are in the Traveliner and the Viano.
The Viano has added advantage of being able to lower the rear a couple of inches due to the air suspension set up. The control buttons to lower are on the inside at the rear.

Even so if the person were heavy it could be a bit shoulder pulling to push up the ramp. A dummy run up a ramp some where could save wasted effort of my sort of conversion.

Thanks to both

m80 - is your Vito converted just for regular vehicle use or is it a camper ?

I'm in the process of installing a raised 3 section slide a way bed. We have a Khyam Motor Dome drive away awning that is very useful for camping trips.
In my mind I think the Vito / Viano (639 in my case) is too small to install a kitchenette, of course MB have made the Marco Polo to contradict that.

For us we cook breakfast in the awning, a camping WC is easily possible in that, and an extra bed pod can be hung in there.
For main meals the pub beckons.
We pack our kit into boxes with lids, they will continue to be sited on the floor.
