Hello MB,

Can anyone kindly advise if an Alternative Auxiliary Branded Battery can be Replaced in a Mercedes S350 2012 in place of the standard Mercedes battery.

Many Thanks

Yes. You can buy a varta branded type . Tanya batteries stock them.

What battery is it ? Fiamm ?

Tanya out of stock presently:confused:

When they are in stock, or if you can find an alternative supplier at a price you are happy with, the Varta replacement is very good. I bought one for my previous E55 from Tayna.

Here is the standard Mercedes Auxiliary Battery. It is used to power Auxiliary parts like Electric windows, Start Go function. The battery is only a small at 4 inches. Image attached 🙂

That's more like a capacitor.

Can anyone with experience of Mercedes Batteries confirm that as Mercedes Auxiliary Batteries are voltage critical that you should only fit a Genuine Mercedes Battery.

I just wanted to see if this was technically correct as I was told this by a Mercedes Specialist, but not because my car was in for any work or potential work, I just called them for advice which they very kindly helped me with 😀

Any comments would be appreciate 👍

No, it's BS. That's not a Mercedes battery in the picture; it's a Fiamm battery with a Mercedes logo on it. Any good quality battery the right size and type will do the job; they all push out the same voltage when fully charged.

This might be the case for capacitors, i.e. possibly you'll only be able to use a genuine MB one, I don't know - but with regards Lead-Acid batteries, any make will do, as long as the model fits the spec.

The Battery I was referring to is the larger Auxiliary version, not the smaller one that fits behind the dash. Can you also fit an alternative brand for this type of Battery?
