Can an R231 fit in a single garage

In the late '70s my mate's dad bought a Jag XJ6, which turned out to be too long for their garage. He knocked through the end wall up to about waist height and put a box around it in the bedroom behind (looked like a window seat, but on a blank wall).

The vendor of our current house was into Land Rovers and sized the double garage to take a Defender 110 each side with room to spare :thumb:

The garage at my home is very long but quite narrow, so my R231 would fit in with around 7' free but the width would be very tight - My leased garage is a standard size, the MX-5 fitted in as did the Nissan X-Trail, The Honda CR-V is 'tight' but does fit in, The SL also fits, but i glued carpet tiles to both walls and have polystyrene sheeting on the back wall, I have to fold in the mirrors as i have to get it in with the nearside close to the wall - I tend to angle it in so i can maximise the drivers door opening, But yes it fits and i can get in and out fairly easily !

I had the same concerns as yourself when i swapped the MX-5 for the SL500, but the footprint was slightly less than the Honda CR-V so i knew that it would fit ( Just )

I seem to recall that our very own @Mactech had to do something similar for his Bentley.
