I have a late 2002 W211 and after only 2 weeks of having the car serviced have noticed that I am getting cold air from every air vent in the car even though the temperature dials are full on. It doesnt make any difference if the air-con is on or off or in what position the temperature dial are in I just get cold air - not good for the recent cold mornings!

I don't think I have an air-lock in the system anywhere (the coolant wasn't changed on the service) so I can only presume that the heater valve might be sticking. I have heard that if you give the valve a bit of a nudge that it could open again.

I was therefore wondering if anyone could advise me whereabouts the heater valve is located to possibly save me another trip to the dealer.

Under the brake master cylinder. It's a real pain to get to.

Beaker, did you ever get to the bottom of this? Was it the valve itself? I have exactly the same problem. Any guidance appreciated, thank you.

Cheers,
Jeremy

I think there is a modified valve. coolant leaks internally and seizes the electric motor causing the heater temperatue to stay put.

Jeremy156 - just a few days after I posted my second message the heater started to work again and everything was OK. Went on holiday for 2 weeks mid-June and then found I got just cold air again! My local MB dealer has since told me that it is a common problem with early W211s and the valve does need to be replaced. Cost will be 2.5 hours labour + the part so I will get it sorted out after the summer.

Did u ever get yours sorted?

I had mine replaced last year by Olly @ PCS. And its not a DIY job, they are a pain to get to.
