Had my E55 AMG for a couple of weeks - it's fabulous in every respect, but there is something really bothering me....

A few times, while driving, and once while stationary with the engine running, I have heard an audible 'chime' from somewhere in the car. It sounds like a reminder type noise, but there is nothing illuminated in the dash or instruments, and there is nothing obviously wrong.

Any ideas what it might be?

Not an E55 but an 2006 E320, it used to chime when I received a text message via COMAND.

Took me a while to figure out what it was.

I don't have a phone installed - so I guess thats not possible?

any other ideas - happened again this morning - aaargggghhhh

Cold weather sensor maybe ?

Cold weather sensor maybe ?

Is there such a thing?
What temp is it set to bleep at?

Could it be that your rear seat backrests are not 'locked' in place?
They should beep once when locked in properly. Maybe yours are bouncing?

im with mr shr, back seat backrests are not locked, doesnt it say in the cluster?

It could be 'The Signal'.

When it happens are you stationary or driving? Next time it happens look carefully around the area to see if any vehicles are acting suspisciously. They may have blacked out windows.

Good luck.

Back seat backrests???? Seem Ok to me, and there is nothing on the dash.......

Didn't happen this morning though.

Well, it's warranted - if it keeps beeping I'll take it into the dealer

Not your watch is it??? :D

Could be a dirty connection in the seatbelt mechanism so it thinks it's not clicked in properly!
