My car is a 1997 C180; no doubt the phone holder was fitted when the car was new and will correspond to a phone of a similar age. There is a mike fitted, and also a speaker. What I would like to do is identify what phone will fit in it, and try to get one.

Any ideas anyone.

Sorry, pic's are larger than expected.

Thanx.

It looks familiar. I think it is for a Nokia 2110, and I'm not sure where you would get one these days. They changed the kit (to CARK91) for the generation following that and I've managed with one of those through 3 phones and am about to make it 4 tomorrow! In fact just got another kit for new car via eBay for 60 squid all in (vs. 120-ish anywhere else). Dead simple to fit.

PS: Yes, I'm pretty sure I'm right on the 2110. See here  http://www.mobileworld.org/Nokia-FAQ.html. It has a line drawing under one of the FAQs.

Thanks Malc, I do believe your right. I am in the process of bidding for one on ebay.

Thanks again.

I picked up the last Accessories booklet from my dealer today and look what I found!

I threw out 2 2110's the other day, just couldnt find anyone who would take them. Well, actually some little kid down the road nicked them from our bin when he saw me put them there. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

I KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN.

Where does this little kid live?

I have just spent a couple of hours trudging round a car boot sale with a negative result. And also unlucky on e-bay, lost it in the exciting last few minutes.

Someone must have a 2110 they dont want.

I dont have a phone [no idea where it went] but I have a charger, cigarette lighter charger ( I think) and the deskstand that allows you to cycle charge the batteries (which you need to do from time to time). You can have these if you pay the postage ... it will please my wife to get rid of some of the junk from my old phone pile - Ive assumed your in the UK - I am

Id be tempted to replace the in-car stuff, its easy to do, and you can then use the nokia 51xx/61xx/62xx/63xx in the car (using cark-91)

Just remembered - I think a colleague might have a 2110 tucked in a desk drawer. I'm sure I saw him with one a few months ago. I'll ask him tomorrow.

Sorted - even got a leather carry case! No charger, I'm afraid. Later Nokia chargers don't fit but it will charge in the car kit, of course.

My mate affectionately used to call it 'the brick' and is glad to be shot of it. E-mail me with delivery address and I'll pop it in a jiffy bag. We can sort out postage costs later.

Thanks to Malc, and Richard, who between them have identified my phone needs, and even provided the phone and accessories at minimal cost. This really is the spirit of a good website, so thanks also to those involved in its running as well.
