Can anyone please help with my squeek.............

I have a 1999 year C200 sport automatic . When I start the car from cold everything is fine ..... but when it get up to temperature I get a squueeeking noise when I pull up to a junction stationary , if I take it out of drive and into neutral the squeeek noise dissapears . I have also noticed that if I turn the aircon switch off , the squeeking noise almost dissapears . But as I said it goes alltogether when in neutral or when I drive off .

I really hope this isnt going to be expensive as I have only recently bought the car , but from a private seller not a garage . Can anyone help please please .

A lot of cars start shrieking/squeeking loud as the weather gets colder, and it's often the alternator/fan belt that is the problem, often the cold causes them to slip and become looser than in the warmer weather. May be worth getting it adjusted.

The belt will have a tensioner so not adjustable as such. My guess is that the tensioner bearings are starting to wear or possibly the idler.
