E220 W212 AMG 2015 Estate
Hi
I have a 2015 W212 E220 AMG Night Edition Estate that has been in a collision. I purchased it minus the front bumper. Having mad a start on the cosmetic repairs it refuses to start calling out the collision prevention sensor.. This I don't have and have been told it is available only from Mercedes and needs programming to the ECU. If I can't start the car I can't get it to Mercedes. Anyone have any ideas.
Many thanks, Mick

Pretty sure that Collision Prevention also uses the short range radar sensors in the front bumper. Have you got all of those wired in ? (two, one on each side)

Cheers

Richard

Richard, Many thanks for your reply.. Nope.. I don't have the bumper on yet, I wanted to get the engine running before I committed and spent thousands on the car. Surely these sensors will not prevent the engine from starting? The car arrived with no bumper so I'm trying to find out exactly what sensors I need and where they go There is a multi-pin plug / socket which is unplugged and dangling near the OS front wheel arch which is presumably for all these sensors. I have subscribed to the EPC but even that isn't very clear. Happy Days..
Mick

Theres a front bumper wiring loom that plugs into that dangling connector, and then has connectors for everything else. Put your VIN into EPC and then its on the pages with bumpers in, along with the sensors.

I don't see why it should not start - something else is wrong. You are not going to find out what without plugging in Star Diagnosis / Xentry ...

Richard

Richard, I have a mobile Merc specialist coming to look at it tomorrow. I have ordered the parking / distance sensors but not taken the plunge with the radar sensor yet.
Watch this space.. :)

Thats a good plan. I believe you need

1 bumper wiring loom for your VIN number (i.e the correct configuration) and 6 sensors for parktronic and a front sensor for collision prevention assist, or possibly 2 other sensors for Distronic. - once you have the loom all plugs should be filled !!

Richard

Update.. The engine is now running.. AdBlue injector and pipe was damaged £400 !! NOx sensor was damaged £300 !!! engine is now running.. Suspension pumped itself up so most things are working. Electric power steering isn't though so I need a fuse diagram.. anyone got one? E220 AMG Night Edition Estate, 2015 (facelift). Mick

The fuse diagram should be on the EPC

As mentioned above there will be two radar sensors for distronic which would probably be used for collision prevention assist also. they have to be checked for the latest flashware on installation! there are 6+ listed on the EPC so you deffo need your chassis no.
