On my pre-facelift W202 could I fit a button, say from a W140 to open the boot from inside the car?

Would I need to wire it to the boot release actuator?

Hi,
Don,t bother with a W140 item just get a face lift 202 boot catch assembly, still air operated central locking, but with an additional electrical actuator for the boot release, I think you could also use a CLK 208 item too, though lookig at the EPC would confirm this though you may have to have a different key as I "think" the key barrels are different between the pre facelift and facelift W202.
I would just run a feed via a suitably mounted switch, you could also buy remote locking kit off of ebay (approx £25) and you could have a remote operated opening boot.

I need the switch from a W140 as my switches are square. So what you're saying is I could wire it using an aftermarket kit?

Hmm I do know where there is a W202 facelift being broken too :)

i looked into this when fitting the facelift bootlid, it can be done as the release ( i understand) is electronic, easiest way is get the switch attached to a normal aftermarket actuator to release the lock, there was lots of other differences in the way the vacuum and electronics works which mess up the central locking on the bootlid etc. i just didnt have the time to mess in the end. see if you can find my thread on facelift bootlid, lots of info on there i think.

If you bought another vacuum pump and using only one of its lines, T it into the existing Yellow vacuum line in the boot, what t would happen to the rest of the central locking when this additional pump is operated, would it cause suction/blow throughout the existing vacuum system and lock/unlock all the doors as well as the boot?
