Or remove the prop shaft.

Speed and mileage very limited, i think its something like no more than 25mph over a max distance of 20 miles, IF the engine is not running the pump in the box may not be working so Gearbox damage may occur.

According to the manual for a CLK; yes, put it in neutral with the ignition on and keep all four wheels on the ground... but by preference load it on a flat bed truck.

It will be fine, just take it easy and make sure the steering isn't locked.

Handbook says use flatbed or raise rear wheels clear.
If above not possible then tow all wheels on the ground, max 30 miles at below 30mph in neutral, engine off.

Really recommend flatbed to be safe..

I had a C180 on a 06 and 07 and now a 59 plate, all were rear wheel drive.
