one of the guys from the Volkswagen forums has put himself forward as a "candidate" for the London Mayoral Election on the London Elects You site. Currently he's in the lead and has had a fair bit of publicity on the TV and Radio

http://www.londonelectsyou.co.uk/MemberProfile.aspx?member=400696

If you've got five minutes to spare, register, log in and vote for him or even stand as a candidate yourself :)

If anyone wants to help his campaign and you are registered London voters he needs to get 330 signatures (10 from each borough) in the next week - details on this thread

Thanks folks

Andy

Sorry........but any vote NOT for Boris means a higher chance of Ken returning to office. And I for one cant risk that scenario.

So my cross WILL be for Boris.

That buffoon Boris has just been on radio 2

in a 10 minute interview he asked Jeremy Vine

1, not to ask such difficult questions

2, stated that he would get London traffic moving again by favouring the motorist on crossings

3, said he would add more "push button controlled" crossings

4, complained that Jeremy Vine reminded him about punching a pedestrian and quoting a previous interview where Boris had said his hero was the fictitious mayor of Amity

I realise we are supposed to keep politics off the forums but talking about this moronic, part time comedian/TV presenter/journalist/mayoral candidate hardly classes as discussing politics :D

I would rather have "buffoon" Boris than Red Ken any day.
He is actually an extremely well educated man and the buffoon image is just that. Whereas Ken is the polar opposite.
I would not trust Ken with a 10 year olds pocket money.

anyway back to the point of the original post (especially for the Boris Fan Club). I didn't ask you to vote for anyone in the London Mayoral Election, I asked you vote for his candidacy on a web site which is funding an independent candidate in the forthcoming election.

I suppose it was an easy mistake to make if you didn't actually read the first post before hitting the "reply" button

This is not the same as the election and despite what you may have thought voting on this site isn't the same as voting for Ken Livingstone :)

Boris made a good point with Adam Boulton on Sky 'yes i would abolish the £25 congestion charge. If you took all the Band G cars out of the zone, in one year, you would save as much in CO2 emissions as Heathrow emits in ONE HOUR'.

With respect, I did read and understand your original post.

My initial reply was my answer.

MY point was that to vote for anyone other than Boris was to risk having Ken returned to office. I would like to make it clear I am not a Boris fan. All I want is Ken removed as quick as possible.
Voting for some hithertoo unknown "also ran" would have the effect of diluting Boris's share of the vote thereby effectively returning Ken to office for a further 5 years of mayhem.

I thought Malcolm was a candidate?

Amazing, as you can see forum this forum, that Boris 'No Brain' actually manages to gather support. Thankfully there is a wide electorate that lives in London and cannot believe that an otherwise serious political party would put up its buffoon as candidate. Of course the other party thought the same but he did talk in a language that people understood. Getting Boris in will be London's version of George Bush.
Did somebody say that Boris made a 'serious point'? Was this about knitting? Boris is to politics and city management as David Beckham is to Astro Physics.
So hopefully I have trod on a few toes there.

Not at all............
That is your opinion, and I can see why some, if not many unenlightened might make that assumption.
But I would suggest finding out a few facts before calling him "no brain".
See this for a few facts...............

Its a good read and quite funny in places..........

You obviously missed this extract from one of my earlier posts............."MY point was that to vote for anyone other than Boris was to risk having Ken returned to office. I would like to make it clear I am not a Boris fan. All I want is Ken removed as quick as possible."

Most it seems on this forum are not "pro-Boris" per se, but "anti-Ken". There is a subtle difference.

But starting a thread about becoming a London Mayor candidate does.
